She Walked Away With His Twins, While He Begged the Ground She Walked On novel Chapter 71

Luna and Caleb exchanged a look, their little heads leaning together as they whispered.

"Caleb, Mommy seems to know that Weird Uncle really well."

Caleb's dark eyes deepened. Resting his chin in his small hands, he murmured thoughtfully.

"Yeah. That Weird Uncle even told Mommy to come home."

Miles tried to keep his tone even. "Three months. We only have to endure this for three months, and then it's over. Can't you handle just three months?"

Quinn replied coldly, "I can't. I can't handle a single day."

Miles scoffed inwardly, utterly convinced she was just putting on an act.

She had lived exactly like this for the last four years, and suddenly she couldn't tolerate three more months?

"If I don't see you at the house tomorrow, don't blame me for being ruthless."

Without giving her a chance to respond, Miles hung up.

Quinn was so furious she wanted to scream, but she swallowed her anger to set a good example in front of the kids.

She had absolutely no intention of going back, but by the next day, her resolve shattered.

The nursing home had called to inform her that someone was there to take her mother home.

She immediately drove to Serenity Nursing Home. The moment she rushed through the doors, she spotted Hunter speaking with the director.

Miles stood nearby, his expression somber as he spoke on the phone.

She didn't have to guess. The man trying to process her mother's discharge was none other than that ruthless, calculating man.

"Miles, what exactly are you trying to do?"

Dr. Julian Miller, who was in charge of Martha's care, smiled warmly. "Quinn, you're here. Mr. York is so devoted. He came personally to handle your mother's discharge and take her home for recovery."

"Dr. Miller, he's mistaken. That's not happening."

Dr. Miller looked confused. Mistaken?

Hunter escorted Dr. Miller out of the room, leaving only Miles and Quinn behind. Martha had already been wheeled out to the gardens by her caretaker.

"Miles, what kind of stunt is this?"

Miles maintained his icy, expressionless demeanor, his tone entirely indifferent. "I'm taking Martha back to Regency Bay to recover. Is there a problem?"

Quinn choked on her words. "You—"

That was the very excuse she always used to snap at him, and now it was being used against her.
