Miles frowned. "Leo, the one over there is exactly the same. I can push you on that one, too."
"Waaah! Daddy, you're being mean to me!"
Leo threw his hands over his eyes and burst into a tantrum. Jade's heart ached for her son, and she immediately began coaxing him in a soft, soothing voice.
"Oh, Leo, don't cry. Mommy's right here."
From the corner of her eye, Jade shot a venomous glare at Luna, who was still sitting on the swing.
Seeing Leo crying so hard, Miles assumed he had genuinely been too harsh and softened his tone once more.
"Leo, Daddy Miles wasn't being mean to you. Please stop crying, alright?"
Leo pulled away from Jade's embrace, pointed accusingly at Luna, and yelled.
"Get down! That's my dad! Why are you stealing my dad? Don't you have your own dad?"
Luna, who had just been laughing so brightly, froze. The smile vanished from her face, and her sparkling eyes instantly clouded with tears.
She looked up at Quinn, her heartbreak obvious.
Quinn's chest tightened in agony. She immediately scooped her daughter up into her arms. Feeling Luna's small body trembling against her felt like a knife twisting in her heart.
"Luna, your daddy is just out of the country for work. When he gets back, he'll spend all his time playing with you."
That instantly cheered Luna up. She planted her hands on her hips and glared down at Leo.
"Why are you so rude? Did you hear that? My daddy is on a business trip, and he'll play with me as soon as he gets back. Unlike you, throwing a fit and forcing Weird Uncle to play with you."
Hearing Luna talk about her daddy coming back to play with her stirred an inexplicable emotion in Miles's chest.
"You!"
Leo's face flushed red with anger, and he charged forward, trying to hit her.
But since Quinn was holding Luna, he couldn't reach. Furious, he immediately turned to complain to his mother.
"Mommy, help me hit her!"
Quinn shot a lethal glare at Jade. "Jade, control your son. Don't let him act like an absolute brat."
Jade didn't see anything wrong with her son's behavior. "Quinn, Leo is just upset. You're a grown woman. Why are you arguing with a little boy?"
She feigned elegance and poise, acting the part of the perfectly well-bred, gentle mother in front of an audience.
Quinn had no intention of starting a screaming match in front of Luna. "Your son definitely takes after you, Jade."
