"Jade, you're drunk."
Miles gently pulled his hand free and pulled the covers over her.
Jade had been hoping to use her slight buzz as an excuse to push their relationship to the next level.
But seeing him grab his clothes to head to Hunter's room left her bitterly disappointed.
She bit her lower lip. "Miles, are you tired of me?"
"No, Jade. You rest here. Hunter and I still have some work to go over."
Miles genuinely had business matters to discuss with his assistant, but tears quickly welled up in Jade's eyes. She threw herself into his arms.
"Miles..."
Just as she leaned up to kiss him, Miles turned his face away. "Jade, Hunter is waiting."
Rejected again, Jade felt a crushing wave of disappointment. "Miles..."
"Get some sleep, Jade. I'm heading over."
...
Friday arrived quickly. Quinn had to head to the airport for her business trip with Mr. Sinclair. The twins each gave her a big kiss on the cheek. "Mommy, have a safe trip! We'll be waiting for you!"
Caleb's crisp, sweet voice carried a hint of reluctance. "Mommy, have a safe trip. I'll take good care of Luna."
A secretive gleam flashed in his dark eyes. Today was the day he was entering the competition.
Yara cheered him on, insisting he would definitely make it to the finals, beat all the kids his age, and advance to compete against the older kids!
"Be good. Take care of your sister, and call me if you need anything."
"I will."
Quinn met up with Eleanor and Mr. Sinclair at the Fairmont International Airport, and they boarded their flight together.
After over ten hours in the air, the plane touched down in the international metropolis of Callan City.
