"Miles, what are you looking for?"
Jade was wearing a stunning, astronomically expensive gown, and she hadn't received a single compliment from him all night.
Now, with his attention completely diverted, she felt as though all her effort had been wasted.
"You've been distracted this entire dance. Are you annoyed with me?"
She spoke with a tone of grievance, the smile fading from her lips.
Realizing he had been neglecting her, Miles softened his tone.
"No, Jade. I was just overly abrupt with someone earlier and wanted to find her to apologize."
A dark glint flashed in Jade's eyes, though she kept a gentle smile plastered on her face.
"Oh, I see. Who is it? I can help you look."
"You don't know her. We only crossed paths briefly."
A brief encounter, and Miles had been obsessing over it all night?
Who on earth was this woman?
Jade's chest tightened. "Miles, was it a man or a woman?"
The song ended, and the crowd erupted into applause, drowning out Jade's question. Miles didn't hear a word.
Jade pressed her lips together in frustration. She wanted to press the issue, but other guests quickly approached them to chat.
...
Back in the presidential suite of The Landinbourg International.
Miles called Regency Bay, where the time difference meant it was currently morning.
"Jack, is Quinn home?"
All evening, he couldn't shake the feeling that the woman he met had been exactly like Quinn.
Despite her different demeanor and the sophisticated, aloof aura, his suspicions lingered.
Until he made this call to confirm she was back home, he wouldn't have peace of mind.
"S-Sir, yes, the Madam is home. Why do you ask?"
Hearing that she was at Regency Bay finally settled his doubts. "Has she been staying at Regency Bay every night these past few days?"
"Yes... yes, she has."
