After finishing the call with his father, Miles returned to the banquet hall, where Jade greeted him with a bright smile.
"Miles, did you finish your call with your father?"
"Yeah."
Miles scanned the room, evidently searching for the woman in the butterfly mask.
He wanted to formally apologize to her for his rude demand earlier.
"What are you looking for, Miles?"
Jade craned her neck, waiting eagerly for him to ask her to dance, but his attention was entirely elsewhere.
"Nothing."
Seeing that he wasn't going to take the initiative, Jade decided to make the first move.
She knew that was just how Miles was—cold, restrained, and emotionally distant.
But he was always gentle with her, and being the only woman in his life was enough.
"Miles, shall we dance?"
Seeing her extended hand, Miles accepted out of pure gentlemanly courtesy.
He led her to the center of the dance floor, and they fell into the steps of a romantic waltz.
Wearing her mask, Quinn continued translating for Mr. Sinclair. Mr. Charles from Chloe International was captivated by her and asked her to dance.
To her surprise, the man who had caught her outside stepped in first, extending his hand. "Miss, may I have this dance?"
Mr. Charles looked slightly put out but retreated to his seat.
Grateful to the stranger for bailing her out, Quinn didn't refuse. She placed her hand in his.
He guided her onto the illuminated dance floor, his hand resting lightly on her waist.
His touch was perfectly respectful, lacking any hint of presumption.
Still, the warmth radiating from his palm made Quinn's heart skip a beat.
Aside from Miles, she had never been this physically close to another man, and the intimacy left her feeling a bit flustered.
As they moved to the slow melody, his posture remained steady and his steps impossibly elegant.
Sensing Quinn's stiffness, he gently held her wrist, guiding her through the fluid motions.
"Don't be nervous. Take it slow."
