She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 794

Baldwin nodded approvingly, finally getting to his real motive. "The head of the Shapiro family has to navigate complex situations. It takes energy, drive, and above all, a healthy, presentable image. Channing is young, ambitious, and has a top-tier background. He's perfectly suited to shoulder the heaviest burdens for you. What do you say?"

Joanna handed Lucian a fresh cup of tea, adding, "Yes, your health isn't what it used to be. Why not just settle down, start a family, and enjoy a peaceful, beautiful life?"

"No more risking your life. Just quiet, stable days. That's the greatest thing a person could ask for," Baldwin added smoothly.

Lucian took the tea and casually set it aside. "You make a fair point. In fact, I had the exact same thought." Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out his marriage license. "I registered my marriage yesterday. As for the Shapiro Group, my dear cousin doesn't need to worry his head about it."

Baldwin's face paled as he stared at the document. "This is incredibly sudden."

Channing stepped forward. "What does that mean?"

"It means this," Lucian said flatly. "I drafted a prenuptial agreement well before this. My wife will inherit 90% of my shares. Furthermore, she holds absolute executive authority within the company, making her my equal."

"In other words," Lucian's lips curled into a cold smirk, "whether I am incapacitated or dead, all assets under my name will be fully managed and inherited by my wife. Legally, she is first in line. After her, my future children. You, my dear cousin who just materialized out of thin air, are at the absolute bottom of that list."

A muscle ticked in Baldwin's jaw. He glared at the marriage license as if trying to set it on fire with his mind.

Ninety percent of the shares? Absolute executive authority? Equals?

This wasn't just a marriage. He had secured an unbreakable, absolute alliance.

Loyce?

That woman was like an unkillable cockroach, always showing up to ruin things. She and the Lonsdale family behind her were a massive thorn in their side.

Channing couldn't hold back anymore. Arrogant and impatient, he had walked in today thinking it was his official coronation into the Shapiro power structure. This was a bucket of ice water to the face.

"Lucian! Watch your mouth! I am your mother! I came back to make up for your lost childhood and give you a mother's love!" Joanna shrieked, finally putting her hidden disdain and entitlement on full display.

"Yes, you're a decorated hero, and the President favors you. You have the arrogance to think you don't need your family's support. But that's all in the past! You are a cripple bound to a wheelchair! The President is busy; how long will his old sentiments protect you? How much more will the nation support you? Business is a battlefield! It requires strength, health, and an imposing presence! Handing all of this to some outsider with an unknown background is gambling with the future of the Shapiro Group and the livelihoods of tens of thousands of employees! You're going to ruin everything! Are you trying to get people killed?!"

The seemingly fragile Joanna became increasingly shrill and venomous as she fiercely defended her husband and son, pointing her finger right at Lucian's face.

But Lucian felt absolutely nothing. No anger, no betrayal. He had completely detached from this woman who called herself his mother.

He didn't want to waste another breath on them. He just wanted this entire family thrown out so he could have some peace and quiet.

Just as the thought crossed his mind, the heavy living room doors were gently pushed open by the staff.
