She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 924

Meanwhile, deep in the mountains, the situation had spiraled into an absolute nightmare. Giselle sat in the passenger seat, her knuckles white as she gripped the seatbelt.

"This upcoming stretch is pretty treacherous. I'm going to slow down," Myles said, trying to keep his voice steady. But his pale face betrayed him; he was barely holding it together.

Giselle nodded. The SUV turned onto an even narrower path, barely wide enough for a single vehicle. A sheer rock wall loomed on their right, while a bottomless ravine yawned to their left. Torrential rain cascaded down the cliffside, forming rushing streams of muddy yellow water across the asphalt.

Hank had driven her past this exact spot the other day. The curves were poorly designed, making it impossible to navigate quickly. It was a death trap.

Suddenly, the car violently jerked. Acting on pure instinct, Myles slammed his foot on the brakes.

"Don't brake!" Giselle screamed, but it was too late.

The tires locked up against the slick, muddy surface. The vehicle lost all traction, and the entire chassis began to careen wildly to the left.

Myles frantically cranked the steering wheel, desperately trying to correct the spin. But between the slick mud and the downward momentum, his efforts were useless.

The SUV vaulted off the edge of the road, accompanied by Chloe's ear-piercing shriek from the back seat.

In the next terrifying second, the vehicle tumbled down the steep embankment. Mud and shattered rocks exploded through the blown-out windows. The brutal force of the seatbelt biting into her shoulder sent agonizing waves of pain radiating through Giselle's chest and down to her very bones.

Her head slammed brutally against the window frame, and everything went black.

When she finally regained consciousness, the SUV was pitched at a sickening angle, precariously wedged between a jagged outcrop of rocks and a cluster of pine trees on the steep incline. Far below them, the river roared like a beast in the torrential downpour.

Myles's voice pierced through the darkness, laced with an unprecedented level of panic. "Giselle! Giselle, are you okay? Please say something!"

Giselle groaned softly. "I'm fine."

She immediately twisted around to check on Chloe. Thankfully, the assistant had kept her seatbelt fastened and hadn't been thrown from the vehicle, though she was curled up in her seat, on the verge of a total breakdown.

With trembling hands, Myles frantically dialed emergency services, but all he got was the cold, automated voice telling him there was no signal.

Giselle pulled out her own phone. The screen was shattered but still functional—zero bars.

Myles contemplated climbing out to find help, but the moment he shifted his weight, the entire vehicle creaked and slid an inch further down the slope. Realizing the horrific danger, he froze, a suffocating despair washing over him.

"No one is going to drive past here this late at night. No one is coming for us." His voice cracked, unable to hide his utter hopelessness.
