"Hank, that's enough..." Her voice was fragmented, soft and completely breathless.
Hank didn't listen. Instead, he leaned in closer...
"Look at me," he demanded softly.
Giselle slowly moved her hand, letting her gaze meet his. The stray strands of hair fell across his forehead, and his eyes were burning with an intensity she couldn't look away from. "Do you have any idea what you do to me?"
From Giselle's perspective, she genuinely couldn't fathom why Hank was so deeply obsessed with her. A man like him could have any woman in the world. Yet, against all odds, they had tangled themselves into something remarkably real. Their history was a chaotic web of love and resentment, completely impossible to untangle now.
The heat in the room reached a fever pitch.
It was a night of pure chaos.
Giselle was absolutely drained. By the time he carried her to bed and unapologetically came for her again, she was already half-asleep.
Fortunately, Hank wasn't quite as unhinged as he used to be. He didn't keep her awake until dawn, nor did he lock her in the bedroom for days on end.
Eventually, they fell asleep, tangled in each other's arms.
Giselle usually had a strict internal clock, but when she finally forced her eyes open, the sun was already high in the sky. It was almost noon.
She groaned, pulling the duvet over her head. Grabbing her phone from the nightstand, she saw a string of missed calls from work. She dialed her team back, her voice cracking the second she spoke.
Her colleagues immediately assumed she had caught a terrible flu. She obviously wasn't going to correct them about the actual reason her voice was gone. After quickly delegating a few tasks, she ended the call.
Just as she set the phone down, Hank strolled out of the en-suite bathroom, vigorously toweling his hair. He was wearing nothing but a towel slung low on his hips, his muscular chest on full display. Seeing her hair sticking up in every direction, looking slightly dazed and adorable, made his pulse immediately kick up again.
