She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 126

The rest of the crowd erupted into laughter.

Lyra offered a faint smile. "It's Caleb's big day. Of course I care. Anything I didn't know, I just looked up online."

"You really are the best, Lyra," Caleb said, deeply touched as he affectionately ruffled her hair.

Lyra smiled tightly. She slipped away to the restroom and dialed Secretary Montgomery's number.

"Find a way to file a formal complaint against Josie Somerset, the receptionist at Jameson Group," she ordered. "Just make sure she doesn't show up at the hotel tomorrow."

...

At eight o'clock that evening, Tabitha selected some fresh fruit from the kitchen, washed it, and headed upstairs to her daughter's room.

Jasmine was reading. She only set the book down when she saw Tabitha walk in. "Mom."

Seeing her daughter looking so serene and lovely, Tabitha offered a relaxed smile.

While most wealthy heirs and heiresses were out partying and squandering their time, only Jasmine had the discipline to sit quietly with a book. It was no wonder she had caught Rowan's eye.

"I'm not interrupting, am I?"

"No," Jasmine shook her head. As she stood up to take the fruit plate, she noticed Grandma Ford walking in right behind her mother.

"Grandma, is everything okay?"

"The Ford family didn't receive an invitation to Caleb's wedding," Grandma Ford said, her expression souring. "But maybe it's for the best. You just go by yourself, Jasmine. Make sure you dress to impress. Don't let that little brat outshine you."

The older woman was, of course, referring to Lyra.

Grandma Ford had met the youngest Fairchild girl before. She was an undeniably stunning and delicate young woman.

"Jasmine, Mr. Jameson is so good to you. He really thinks of everything."

"Yes, he's always been very thoughtful." Jasmine reflected for a moment. Throughout their relationship, Rowan had showered her with gifts, ranging from diamond jewelry to a sports car. He had always been incredibly generous and undeniably good to her.

Jasmine had dated wealthy men while studying abroad, but none of them had ever treated her with such uncalculated devotion.

Grandma Ford beamed with pride. "Having such an exceptional man treat you so well... it truly is rare."

"It's destiny. Fate works in mysterious ways, and that Lyra girl couldn't steal him away even if she tried."

Tabitha smiled. Destiny didn't just appear out of thin air; she had certainly played a part in making it happen.

When the Ford family first arrived in Seaborne City with zero connections, she had tried to cozy up to Delilah Ward. She had hoped that through her friendship with Delilah Fairchild, getting close to Caleb would be enough of a win.

She never expected Jasmine to overachieve and snatch up the unattainable future son-in-law of the Fairchild family instead.
