She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 303

The surrounding crowd was momentarily stunned by Rowan's blunt reply.

Had they just completely misread the room?

Everyone had assumed Rowan passed on the Fairchild marriage and chose Jasmine specifically because of her formidable business acumen, viewing her as the perfect powerhouse wife for the Jameson family. But based on what he just said... was that not the case?

A humiliating wave of paleness crept onto Jasmine's cheeks. She quickly blinked back the sudden, sharp sting of unshed tears. Meeting the curious, probing stares of the elites around her, she forced a polite, picture-perfect smile, desperately burying the turmoil twisting in her gut.

"Oh, silly me!" one of the socialites quickly interjected, trying to smooth things over. "Of course it's not about Miss Ford's business skills. I heard she saved Mr. Jameson's life, and it was love at first sight..."

Jasmine's face turned completely ashen.

"I was unaware," Rowan replied, his tone indifferent.

Langley nodded quickly. "It's a messy, scandalous affair. Makes sense he wouldn't want to broadcast it."

"And what about Lucas Chavez?" someone else chimed in. "A while back, I heard he was desperately begging his grandfather to let him marry some wealthy socialite. Silas Chavez was so furious he beat him half to death and exiled him to their subsidiary out in the country."

"Oh?" Rowan suddenly looked interested, a brow arching in genuine surprise. He smiled faintly. "Who was he trying to marry?"

"I honestly have no idea," Langley replied. "It happened a while ago, and they kept it incredibly tight-lipped. I heard they fired all the staff who were present that day."

Jasmine listened in pure shock.

She had no idea Lucas had someone he loved that intensely.

The woman he loved—
