She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 304

Madeline's cousin Sabrina wasted no time informing the Vance family that Madeline had started dating a waiter and even bought him a house.

Naturally, the family was outraged.

Mrs. Vance was particularly furious, convinced Madeline had completely lost her mind. Could a handsome face put food on the table?

The moment Madeline returned home, Mrs. Vance cornered her, unleashing a harsh reprimand.

"Have you completely lost your mind? You throw away your prestigious background to mess around with a penniless nobody? What kind of future can a waiter possibly offer you? Can his good looks feed you? Can they secure the rest of your life?"

"We didn't raise you with the best of everything just so you could degrade yourself and chase after a man who has absolutely nothing! And sneaking around buying him a house? Throwing yourself at him so shamelessly? Where is your self-respect? You're dragging the Vance family name through the mud!"

Madeline only asked one question, her voice trembling with rage. "Who told you?!"

"Your cousin saw you. She only told us for your own good."

Madeline snatched her car keys and sped straight to the dental clinic. Bursting through the doors, she demanded, "Did Lyra come here?"

Sabrina sneered, her eyes gleaming with a toxic mix of jealousy and amusement. "Your friend is incredibly loyal. If it were me, I wouldn't have bothered with you at all."

"She tries to help you, and she gets yelled at and suffers for it. The more she cares, the more she gets hurt. She's willing to suffer just to look out for you. You better cherish a friend like that..."

Madeline couldn't even process the words; she was too consumed by fury. How old were they, and Sabrina was still running to tattle to her parents? She pulled out her phone and furiously messaged the group chat, demanding Lyra answer her.

Lyra completely ignored her.

Leo watched the messages pop up and sighed. Here we go again...

Leo had hired bodyguards to tail the guy, but Peyton Marshall was incredibly paranoid. Whenever he and that innocent-looking girl were in the apartment, the curtains were drawn tight.

In public, they played the roles of perfectly decent siblings.

With the curtains always closed, getting solid photographic evidence was impossible.

Leo was out of options.

It wasn't that he hadn't considered ordering his men to kick the door down and catch them in the act. If they walked in on something undeniable, great. But if they found nothing, Peyton could call the cops. Breaking and entering carried a heavy sentence, and if he caused a scandal, his grandfather would be furious and probably banish him to Monaco again...

The sharp clack of billiard balls snapping together broke his train of thought.
