Jasmine's face grew slightly tense.
Her family was waiting for an explanation as to why Rowan's jewelry hadn't been delivered to her.
Jasmine scrambled for a lie to smooth things over. Should she say the items weren't with her because it wasn't safe?
She lowered her voice and said, "He kept them at his place."
"He figures I'll be moving in eventually, so he's holding onto them there for now."
The Ford family breathed a sigh of relief. Tabitha nodded thoughtfully, then smiled in understanding. "That makes sense. A billionaire's estate definitely has infinitely better security than we do here."
Turning to Grandma Ford, she added, "A place like that has armies of bodyguards and top-tier security. It's much safer there. It was smart of him not to bring them over."
Jonathan frowned. "I heard Rowan went to Caleb's twins' celebration banquet?"
Jasmine froze. She had no idea.
Grandma Ford looked equally surprised. "Caleb's twins are already a month old?"
She sighed wistfully. "Time really does fly!"
Tabitha's expression soured, feeling as though they were being outdone. "Caleb had two kids in just three years, and everyone says he treats Kayla wonderfully. But what about you, Jasmine? When are you getting married? Has the Jameson family said anything?"
Seeing Jasmine's expression darken, Grandma Ford offered a casual defense. "It's not uncommon for young people these days to date for seven or eight years before tying the knot."
"We don't have that kind of time." Tabitha adamantly opposed the idea of a drawn-out romance, unwilling to let her daughter's prime years go to waste.
"I'm going to invite Victoria out for tea next time and have a chat."
