She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 399

The family strictly followed the doctor's orders, and within a few days, little Hazel began to recover.

A light drizzle was falling. Lyra had barely gotten home from work when Rowan's car pulled up.

She slid into the passenger seat.

"Sorry I've neglected you these past few days. I was tied up with work," he said.

Lyra secretly wished he would ignore her forever.

The car pulled up to Blackwood Manor.

Wesley hit the brakes and glanced back, speaking in a low voice. "Mr. Jameson, Jasmine is waiting at the front gate."

Lyra, who had been sitting rigidly in Rowan's arms with a cold expression, instantly looked out the window. Sure enough, Jasmine was walking straight toward Rowan's car through the light rain.

Panic flared in Lyra's chest. She practically scrambled out of his arms and ducked out of sight.

Wesley caught a glimpse of her cowering by Rowan's legs like a criminal hiding from the cops.

Rowan's gaze darkened. He stroked Lyra's hair before rolling down the window just enough as Jasmine approached. "Can I help you?" he asked, his tone painfully indifferent.

"Rowan, I need to talk to you alone," Jasmine said. Her one-month deadline was quickly approaching, and she had realized she had absolutely no way of getting close enough to win him back.

"Say it here," Rowan ordered.

"I want to be with you today," she pleaded.

Wesley couldn't help but admire Jasmine's sheer stubbornness. She was desperate, yet she had held her feelings back for so long, refusing to show her hand. It wasn't until Rowan's attention had fully shifted to Lyra that she finally regretted playing hard to get.

Jasmine knew this was her last chance. Her voice trembled. "Do you like girls who are more exciting now?"

"How do you know I can't be like that if you've never tried?"

Hidden in the car, Lyra's eyes went wide. She peeked through the window, watching Jasmine's face flush deep red, then drain of color. When Jasmine finished speaking, she bit her lip hard, burying a chaotic storm of emotions.

Lyra had sent Jasmine two explicit photos from Rowan's bed, yet Jasmine had acted completely unbothered.

Her sheer devotion was staggering. If Lyra had been a man and hadn't known Jasmine's true colors, even she would have been moved.

Lyra looked up at Rowan.
