She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 400

The car pulled into the massive garage and came to a stop next to the private elevator.

Wesley quickly switched to another car to head home. Knowing his boss was still in the backseat, he had assumed the drive would be peaceful, but Lyra had completely derailed things at the last second.

Wesley peeled out of the garage, leaving the two of them passionately entangled in the backseat. He just hoped they didn't run out of oxygen.

As he drove past Jasmine at the gates, Wesley rolled down his window. "Jasmine, you should leave."

"Mr. Jameson is busy... He's entertaining a guest today."

Jasmine's head snapped up in surprise. "What guest? A man or a woman? Are they already here?"

Wesley realized his mistake. Not wanting to give too much away, he quickly deflected. "They're not here yet. Just head home, Jasmine."

The thought of Rowan's guest finding out she had been dumped made Jasmine hesitate.

Not waiting for her response, Wesley drove off.

Meanwhile, Lyra and Rowan had made their way upstairs. The staff quickly brought out an elaborate dinner.

Lyra managed a few bites before losing her appetite completely. At home, she could usually stomach a small plate, but here...

"Lost your appetite because love is all the sustenance you need?" Rowan mocked smoothly. "It seems I'll have to fill you up in other ways later."

Lyra's stomach cramped violently.

She couldn't even remember why she had loved him so much in her past life.

Now, just hearing his voice disgusted her.

Looking at his face made her nerves spike.

Once she dealt with Jasmine, she was going to kick Rowan to the curb without a second thought.

Lyra forced down another bite but gave up. She wandered over to the second-floor window and peered out. To her surprise, Jasmine was still there.

When Rowan walked up behind her, he asked, "Why are the lights off?"

"Don't turn them on!" Lyra quickly stopped him.

"The glass is treated. They can't see inside even with the lights on," Rowan assured her.

Lyra's eyes remained fixed on the scene below. "Your girlfriend is still standing in the freezing rain. Doesn't your heart ache for her? She really can't let you go. She's so strong, suffering in silence like that. I'm practically moved to tears."

She knew perfectly well that someone like Jasmine would succeed no matter what she did.

Wealth, power, status—it was only a matter of time before she grabbed what she wanted.

It all depended on how long Rowan could hold out.

Rowan's voice was utterly flat. "We broke up. She's not my girlfriend."

Lyra's entire body went rigid. She spun around, staring at him in shock. "You broke up with her? Why didn't you tell me?"

"What difference would it make? Would you suddenly throw yourself at me?" Rowan pinched her soft cheek, his tone lazy. "I imagine you'd only run further away."

A storm of thoughts raced through Lyra's mind. "When did you break up?" she demanded.
