She's Too Busy Winning to Watch Him Cry novel Chapter 558

She looked completely defenseless, and incredibly fragile.

Rowan's gaze softened. He lightened his steps, walking to the edge of the bed and gazing down at her.

His fingers gently brushed against her soft hair.

"Don't you dare take her away right now. Her body has been through hell, and what she needs most right now is quiet rest." Sabrina quickly bypassed Andrea and hurried forward, whispering her warning. "Look how loud we were just now and she still hasn't woken up. She's completely pushed past her limits."

A storm of unreadable, complex emotions swirled in Rowan's dark eyes. The hand resting in her hair slowly withdrew.

"What did you just feed her?"

Rowan noticed an empty porcelain bowl on the nightstand.

"Just some sweet soup to help her recover her strength. Don't worry, I would never hurt her."

Rowan pulled his gaze away and said softly, "Wait outside. I'm going to sit with her for a while, then I'll leave."

Andrea immediately pulled Sabrina away and gently pulled the bedroom door shut.

Sabrina: "..."

Sabrina had already communicated with Dr. Gable and knew Lyra hadn't actually had the abortion. Rowan was incredibly sharp and perceptive; by insisting on staying alone with her, she wondered if he might spot a flaw in their lie.

The room fell into absolute silence. Rowan sat by the bed, silently keeping watch over her for a full half-hour without saying a word.

When he finally walked out, Sabrina breathed a sigh of relief.

She knew all too well that if he won her back too easily, he wouldn't know how to cherish her.

Right now, Rowan looked consumed with guilt and regret, genuinely heartbroken for Lyra. But this softheartedness coming so easily wasn't necessarily a good thing.
