Chapter 64
Chapter 64
“I heard Leo Chavez is heading overseas. He’s moving to Monaco.”
Lyra quietly took a sip of her tea.
She had already guessed as much.
In her past life, Leo had been blindly ambitious about launching his used-car empire, flat-out refusing to leave the country when his parents tried to send him away.
But now, with his business venture dead in the water and his recent breakup, he was voluntarily choosing to start over abroad.
“Leo doesn’t have the same cunning instincts as Lucas,” Caleb noted. “Lucas has been stringing him along and playing him since they were kids. Hopefully, Leo can actually build something solid out there.”
Lyra gave a soft hum of agreement. “It’s for the best that he goes.”
“I thought you two were close?” Caleb looked confused as to why his sister seemed eager for her friend’s departure.
“It’s exactly because we’re friends.”
The failure of the used-car business was just the tip of the iceberg in her past life. Later on, Leo had been viciously scammed. A prominent corporation on the brink of bankruptcy had sold him shares under the guise of a joint venture, but it was just a massive debt transfer. Overnight, all of Leo’s real estate and personal assets had been liquidated, and he narrowly avoided prison time.
Furious, Mr. Chavez had entirely cut his grandson off. That catastrophic scandal officially locked Leo out of any future stake in the Chavez family empire.
After all, no patriarch wanted to see his legacy destroyed by a reckless heir.
Especially when he had the perfect golden child, Lucas, standing right next to him as a point of
comparison.
At least in this timeline, Leo was relocating.
And his grandfather still held out some shred of hope for him.
Lyra remembered how brutally Leo had suffered in her previous life. Yet, when she had been pushed to the absolute edge of despair, he had still managed to pull strings and lend her millions of dollars.
“I’m going to see him off.”
A massive crowd showed up to bid Leo farewell. He had booked out a private suite for his send-off dinner, explicitly inviting the Fairchild siblings.
Unsurprisingly, Rowan Jameson was also on the guest list.
Nowadays, Lyra actively avoided their inner circle’s events whenever possible.

But since this was Leo’s goodbye and they shared a genuine bond, she made an exception.
With Caleb out of town on a business trip, Lyra drove to the dinner alone.
Before heading to the venue, she stopped by an upscale boutique at the mall. Her venture capital investments had recently paid out massive dividends, so she casually pointed out the most expensive luxury timepiece in the display case and had it gift-wrapped.
Arriving at the prestigious Seaborne City restaurant, Lyra grabbed the gift bag from the passenger seat. Leo and his crew were regulars here, so she navigated the opulent corridors with ease.
The private suite was booming with loud laughter and music, but the second she pushed the door open, she locked eyes with Rowan and Jasmine. They were standing intimately shoulder-to-shoulder by the floor-to-ceiling windows, their overlapping silhouettes reflecting against the night glass.
The moment the crowd noticed her, the raucous atmosphere crashed to a dead, awkward halt.
“What the hell is she doing here?” Rosalie West, Lucas’s girlfriend, muttered loudly.
She hadn’t seen Lyra in ages.
She honestly assumed Lyra was too humiliated to show her face in public after Rowan publicly replaced her!
“Lyra, you made it!” Leo cheered, throwing a welcoming arm around her shoulders. “These are all my guys… Everyone, take a seat! Tonight is my farewell party, and we are drinking until we drop.”
Leo patted Lyra’s shoulder and pulled out the chair directly next to his.
“For you,” Lyra said, handing him the sleek gift bag as soon as she sat down.
Lucas scoffed from across the table. “You brought a gift? With a box that tiny, what is it, a keychain?”
Hearing Lucas’s jab, Leo actually assumed it was just a sentimental trinket.
He chuckled as he pulled at the ribbon. “Even if it’s just a keychain, if it’s from Lyra, I’m wearing it every day.”
Lyra simply shrugged with a faint smile.
As Leo lifted the lid, his eyes widened in sheer shock at the stunning, diamond-encrusted timepiece inside. “Why would you drop this kind of money on me?”
“Because you’re worth it,” Lyra said softly.
She raised her glass of cola, and a deeply moved Leo instantly clinked his glass against hers. “Lyra, I swear you’re my literal guardian angel. You’re the best.”
Lyra nearly choked on her drink, her cheeks flushing pink at the dramatic praise.
Overcome with affection, Leo leaned in and affectionately pinched her cheek. It seemed like ages since he had seen his friend smile so freely.
But just as he moved in to pull her into a tight hug, Lucas reached out and forcefully yanked him backward by the collar of his shirt.
Brushing it off, Leo practically vibrated with excitement as he fastened the extravagant watch onto

Just then, a sudden shift in the room’s energy drew everyone’s attention toward Rowan.
