Chapter 65
Chapter 65
Rowan was personally placing food onto Jasmine’s plate.
The entire table stared, unable to comprehend Rowan playing the role of a doting servant.
Even among the prestigious Jameson elders, only his grandfather had ever received such treatment, and that was only because he was bedridden and the nurses were occupied.
Lucas couldn’t help but whistle. “Rowan, I had no idea you were such a hopeless romantic.”
Waylon Grayson offered a quiet, knowing smile.
Glancing across the table, Lucas noticed Lyra’s expression darkening.
Lyra was indeed repulsed by this display of “romance,” mostly because it reminded her of her past life, where this devoted romantic had ruthlessly cannibalized Fairchild Holdings just to hand the empire over to Jasmine.
But to everyone else in the room, it looked like pure, unadulterated jealousy.
They assumed she was biting her tongue because throwing a desperate fit would only make her look incredibly pathetic.
After all, her tantrums never had the slightest effect on Rowan anyway.
So, in their minds, her tightened grip on her glass and grim expression were all she could muster.
Playing it cool was her only option.
Lucas smugly decided that Lyra had finally developed a shred of self-awareness, realizing that her psychotic meltdowns were useless.
But deep down, he was positive she was dying of a broken heart; otherwise, her face wouldn’t look so
strained.
So-she wasn’t nearly as over him as she pretended to be. She was just playing a more sophisticated
game.
The conversation shifted when someone brought up Maisie’s birthday incident, asking for updates. A fleeting shadow passed over Rowan’s eyes as he replied coolly, “The girl is already in police custody.”
“The university stepped in and formally expelled her.”
Jasmine sighed sympathetically. “Thank god Maisie was smart enough to figure it out in time, otherwise it would have been an absolute nightmare.”
As she spoke, she purposefully shot a glance at Lyra.
Jasmine was absolutely certain Lyra had zero knowledge of the drama. After all, she had been entirely blacklisted from their social sphere.
Sure enough, while the rest of the table expressed their horror at Maisie’s close call, Lyra casually picked at her food, looking thoroughly unbothered, as if the entire conversation had nothing to do with her.
Jasmine scoffed inwardly. Once Leo moved overseas, Lyra wouldn’t have a single excuse to ever cross paths with Rowan or Waylon again. No one else was ever going to invite her to these exclusive gatherings.
She wouldn’t have to pretend she didn’t care anymore!
Honestly, Jasmine was exhausted just watching her fake it.
And regarding this inevitable social exile-
Jasmine was looking forward to it.
In reality, Lyra truly hadn’t spared another thought for Maisie. The girl’s fate simply wasn’t her problem.
Her phone buzzed against the table. Swiping it open, she saw a new text from Caspian Jameson.
[Lyra, can you please add Maisie back? She’s driving me insane! First you tried to connect with her and she ignored you, and now she’s whining that you’re rejecting her requests. Am I just a pawn in your little game?]
Clearly at his wit’s end, Caspian attached a photo of Maisie pouting relentlessly in the middle of his university laboratory.
Lyra frowned. Caspian had stepped up to help her out recently, and she didn’t want to make his life
miserable.
With a sigh, she opened her requests and accepted Maisie.
The second the notification went through, Maisie flooded her screen with massive blocks of text, fueled by pure adrenaline.
Lyra couldn’t be bothered to read a single word of it.
She typed a quick, blunt reply: [Stop harassing your cousin.]
Maisie: [Yes, ma’am. (Monkey saluting sticker attached)]
Lyra: [I am extremely busy right now.]
Maisie instantly took the hint: [Okay, okay! We’ll talk later, just promise you won’t block me again.]
Lyra set her phone facedown and shook her head in mild amusement.
When she glanced back up, she realized the room had fallen completely silent. Every single person at the table was staring directly at her. Beside her, Leo’s chair was empty; he had stepped outside to
take a call.
“Lyra, are you even listening?” Rosalie demanded sharply.
Lyra blinked. “?”
Having zoned out of the conversation entirely, she felt a bit disconnected from the drama. “What did I miss?”
Rosalie practically vibrated with self-righteous anger. “I said, this whole spaced-out, tortured-ex routine is incredibly embarrassing! Jasmine is officially dating Mr. Jameson now. If you’re

supposedly so over him, why haven’t you apologized and made up with Jasmine? Weren’t you two best friends? Why are you still treating her like she doesn’t exist!”
Lyra stared around the table in absolute disbelief.
To her sheer astonishment, the rest of the group was nodding along, acting as if Rosalie’s unhinged outburst made perfect sense.
