As soon as Jennifer shut the door after putting on her clothes, I face Reign. The first thing he does is take out a gun from his side and relaxingly level it across my face.

I scoff. “This is it? You’re gonna shoot me in my own villa? Didn’t think you were this messy.”

Real men from our world know guns are for amateurs and finalities. They’re a shortcut, a show of cowardice. If you want to make a point, you use your fists.

“Harvey Prescott,” he says my name, then slowly slides the gun back where it came from. As if he thought that little display would scare me.

“Antonio did say you had a mouth.” Reign says, referencing his older brother…the only Moretti with half a brain, and the man who actually taught me the business.

“I miss Antonio. I think he’s the only Moretti with a sense in his head.” I look at my watch. “Can we make this quick? We can fight later tonight. Around midnight. I think I’ll have the time then.”

“Oh shoot… I really thought I’d be able to fight you whenever I wanted. I’m guessing you don’t want the girl to know what monsters we casino owners can be?” He takes a step closer. “Her name is Jennifer… did you think she was her when you were banging my sister?”

I shrug. “There’s no world where I’d mistake Jenna for Jen. And for the record, I didn’t take your sister’s virginity, if that’s what you’re all worked up about.”

I turn around, giving him my back. It’s a bold move, especially after what I just said. If he lunges now, the fight starts. I’m ready for it.

“If anything,” I add over my shoulder, “Jenna took mine.”

I hear Reign’s dry, humorless chuckle behind me.

“I get it. You wanna fight for her honor and shit,” I say, turning to face him again. “I’m not saying you can’t. But you gotta book me earlier. And I don’t enjoy you creeping into my bedroom.” My jaw tightens at the memory of Jennifer pulling her shirt off in front of this animal.

“You beat my boys.”

“Should have sent someone stronger if you didn’t want them beaten.” I reply flatly.

He closes the distance until our shoulders are almost brushing. “I’ll let this end here because I’m coming to New York for my dad’s new business. We’ll finish this over there.”

My fist tightens at my side, but he doesn’t see it.

“Thank you guys so much for being a part of our wedding tomorrow! I can’t wait to be Mrs. Prescott!” Nisha gushes over the table we’re seated at near the lake.

My attention is split between Jenna and her brother, Reign, who’s leaning back like a king surveying his court. If I’d known this trip would blow up in,my face like this, I never would have brought Jen here. It’s a double- homicide situation waiting to happen.

Once Nisha sits, the meal begins. Well, Jen begins. She digs in like she’s been starved. I’m not even surprised, the girl has been buzzing around all day.

The real problem is at this table. I thought I only had Baxter to keep away from her. But looking around, it’s not just Baxter stealing glances at Jennifer. It’s Reign, too. His eyes keep drifting to her, and it makes my blood run cold.

“If you want, we can just go inside to eat.” I tell Jennifer, leaning close.

“Okay, let me just finish this real quick,” she mumbles through a mouthful of salad, chewing happily.

I shake my head. That’s it.

“Baxter, have you decided on your best man?” Bryce asks from across the table, trying to make conversation.

“Hmm, Harvey, of course.”

“No.” I say.

“Dad would want me to choose you.”

“I said no. Give it to Bryce.” I reply.

“So, how long have you two been dating?” Jenna asks, her voice sweet as poison. I know she’s posing the question to me and Jennifer, but Nisha, lost in her own bridal bubble, thinks it’s for her.

“Since… last year, when he got down on one knee and proposed.”

“I think she’s asking Harvey and Jennifer,” her friend whispers, and Nisha’s smile ends.

Jennifer drops her fork with a soft clatter. I don’t want her playing this game, whether she knows it’s a game or not. So I intercept.

“For as long as needed.” I tell Jenna, looking at her until she’s the one who looks away.

The conversation stumbles on for a while and that’s the moment I feel her leg, Jenna’s leg, touching mine under the table. I keep my eyes on my plate. She lets her foot trail up my calf, thinking she’s building some forbidden tension as I’m seated next to Jen.

I’ve had enough.

As her foot creeps higher toward my thigh and dick, I shift, pushing my plate back “accidentally” until it catches the edge of her full wine glass.

The glass topples perfectly and crimson juice splashes directly into her.

“Shit!” She jerks upright and the seductive glint in her eyes is replaced with furious shock. She glares at me.

“Oh no!” Nisha jumps up too. “Come on, let’s get that off you!”

Jenna flings her napkin onto the table and storms away.

The table falls silent until Reign speaks.

“You look familiar.” he says with his gaze fixed on Jennifer, and my guard slams back up.

“Me?” Jennifer wipes her mouth.

“Yeah. What’s

your surname?”

“You don’t know her.” I cut.

Reign leans back. “Try me.”

“There’s no way you know Jen. This is her first time in Italy.” Baxter says, flashing her a smile. I’m sick of this. Four years ago, it was just Jen and me. Now every guy at this damn table is circling her. When does this nonsense end?

“Jennifer Marie.” Jen offers.

“Marie. Hmm.” Reign taps his chin. “I don’t recognize the surname. But do you have a brother?”

I look up sharply. Jen does have a brother. Jeremy. He left with their dad after the divorce. Her mom married money. I remember her talking about that, years ago.

“Yes, I do. But there’s no way you’d know him. He’s… he’s just not the guy you would know.”

She thinks that’s the end of it. But Reign already has his phone out. He taps the screen and slides it across the table to her.

“This him?”

Jennifer hesitates, then reaches for the phone. I don’t even see the picture. I’m too focused on the gleam in Reign’s eyes. Then I hear Jennifer’s sharp gasp.

“That’s Jeremy!”

A smirk spreads across Reign’s face.

“H…how do you know my

brother?”

“I think we did a job together.” Reign takes his phone back before I can look. “He had your picture in a locket. Used to carry it everywhere.”

“What job? What… it’s just…” Jennifer is reeling. “I swear I’m gonna call Jeremy right now-”

“Don’t bother. I’m coming to New York in a short while. I’ll beep him.”

That’s the moment I get up. My chair scrapes loudly against the stone patio.

“What’s wrong, Harvey?” Reign asks, but he knows damn well what it is. He’s enjoying this.

“We have to get up early for the wedding tomorrow. Congrats, Bax.” Jennifer says and gets up on her feet beside me. As we are getting ready to leave, Jenna is returning to the table.

“Goodnight, guys.” Jennifer waves with politeness.
