My hand is splayed on the wall of Harvey’s chest as I ride him. The muscles in my thighs burns sweetly as I rise then sink back down, taking all of him inside me again. A gasp tears from my lips, lost in another rumble of thunder.

I ride him so well that that the cords of his neck stands taut, the veins in his arms rises like rivers on a map as his hands grip my hips, guiding me, then letting me take control. His body is a landscape of tension and release, and I am mapping every

contour.

The old bed creaks but the storm is louder. The wind howls, the rain lashes the window, and I pray it’s enough to swallow the sounds we’re making. Especially his Harvey is moaning like someone who is crying. Each time I slide down his length, he lets out a choked sound that goes straight to my core.

“Jen… please.” he grunts, his eyes glued to where our bodies join watching himself disappear inside me.

I lean back, bracing my hands on his powerful thighs, changing the angle. His hands fly to my breasts, caressing, squeezing. his thumbs circling my nipples until they’re hard peaks. The sensation makes me cry out, my head falls back.

I move faster, chasing my own climax, using him for my pleasure Up and down. I can feel my own tightness clutching him, trying to pull him deeper with every descent. His hips back up meet me, driving into me from below, and our movements become a perfect sync

“Look at me!” he demands.

I force my eyes open, meeting his burning gaze. I see the moment he starts to lose it. His control shatters.

“I’m gonna come he warns with his fingers digging into my fir

“Me too!” I pant. “Don’t stop. Don’t you dare stop”

My orgasm hits me like a white-hot lightning strike. My body b own release triggered by my clenching heat His hips slam up shuddering groan, his hand clamping over my mouth again to

like a silent scream and I feel him pulse in response, his ding me impaled as he empties himself with a long, other our shared cry

We collapse together in a tangled, sweating heap. He’s still inside and both of us are trembling as the aftershocks subside.

The next morning. Tinka doesn’t tease me, so I’m pretty sure nobody heard us last night. I find Harvey at the edge of my dad’s street, crouched down and feeding a stray cat with gentle strokes. I can’t help but just watch him, a soft smile on my

face.

“Ugh, can you stop looking at your boyfriend!” Tinka pokes her tongue out at me. I’m still smiling until I see Jeremy approaching. He has this weird, tense look on his face, his hand shoved deep in his pocket as he glares over at where Harvey is. I walk over to him.

“You’re looking at Harvey like you’ve known him forever and like he’s exactly the kind of guy you hate,” I say, crossing my arms. “He was my best friend before he became my boyfriend, okay? Give him a chance.”

Jeremy just nods.

“Also,” I lower my voice. “Where did you even get the money to think of rebuilding Dad’s store?”

“Savings,” he says, clearing his throat.

“Savings?” I repeat with disbelief.

“Yeah. I’m planning on finding a stable job. I’ll get the architect to make the store bigger than it was, maybe even turn it into a mini-mall. I’ll be working there.”

“Hmm,” I say, squinting at him. “And do you have any idea how uch something like that would cost? If you need money,

tell Mom and 1–”

“No.” Jeremy cuts me off sharply. “I don’t need money. I’ve got is.” His eyes dart past me to Harvey, who is now walking toward us after while talking to my dad by the curb.

“Jeremy.” Harvey extends a hand. Jeremy hesitates for a split second before taking it. Then, in a move that surprises me, Harvey pulls him into a quick, firm one-armed hug, patting his ack. It’s weirdly… friendly. I look between them, wonderin what changed from yesterday’s tension.

Just as we’re about to pull out of the driveway after I’ve given my dad a dozen kisses goodbye, a red car speeds down the street and screeches to a halt right in front of Harvey’s car.

It doesn’t take long for two guys to step out. One of them is Reign. His face is a mess of purple, blue, red and yellow bruises, like a cabbage. His eyes lock onto me.

“Who are you!?” my dad asks. From the way he shrinks back, it’s most like he’s scared-like he thinks these might be the same guys who burned his shop. But Reign doesn’t even know my dad.

“I came to talk to you, Jennifer.” Reign says with a scoll. “I came tell you who the man you’re dating really is.”

“Stop.” I hear Harvey murmur the word.

“Go down on your knees and beg me, then!” Reign growls.

I swear, I don’t understand anything that’s happening. Why would he say that to Harvey? Harvey isn’t even looking at me and that’s the problem. Why won’t he look at me while Reign is pouting all this nonsense?

“Reign-“Harvey starts, but his voice is strained.

“What the hell is going on?!” I demand. The guys Reign came with start to chuckle.

“Harvey sent the guys to burn your poor dad’s shop.” Reign says.

The words don’t land. They just… fall out of my ears. That’s how take it. They don’t make sense.

“Reign-”

“Your brother stole a suitcase from the Kings Casino. The suitcase belonged to Baxter. It had the papers for his contract marriage. So he hired your brother, Jeremy.” Reign’s gaze flicks my brother, who has gone ghost-white. “And to get it back, your dear boyfriend here sent hooligans to find Jeremy, regardless of what it took. He told them to burn your poor father’s shop to the ground. To teach him a lesson.”

That’s the moment Harvey finally turns to face me.

I expect him to turn and say it’s all a lie. To tell me not to believe it, that there’s no way he would ever do that.

But he turns, and his face… it looks like he’s about to tear his own skin off. There’s agony there. And guilt. So much guilt.

The breath I take isn’t a breath. It’s me wondering if this is a dream. A horrible, waking nightmare.

“Jen.”
