“Your… your place?” I ask Harvey in the dark, and he turns his flashlight directly into my

face.

“Did I stutter? It doesn’t make sense to stay here for the night in the dark… when I’ve got a home-”

I roll my eyes and slap the flashlight away because he’s blinding me.

“Gimme my phone.”

“Say please.” Harvey says, and instead of handing it to me, he goes down the stairs with it.

I struggle to take the first step in the pitch black. “Harvey?!”

He turns the torch back on me so I can see where to step. Silently, I come down, feeling his presence like its own kind of problem. Of course he’s going to tell me to come to his house after he kissed me. And not just kissed me…but he enjoyed it. He really took his time and forgot it was supposed to be pretend, not him devouring my entire mouth. I was literally shaking as he kissed me… which just made me realize all over again that Harvey is an unfairly good kisser.

It’s not like I’ve kissed a ton of guys to compare, but Harvey… he does it so well I feel tingles between my legs. It didn’t even help that I was just wearing a t-shirt that stops mid-thigh, or how he cradled my hand against his chest. He is… now that I think about it, Harvey might be a worse playboy than Baxter ever was!

When we get back to the hall, everyone is out of their apartments, arguing and calling anyone they think can fix the outage.

“Anita’s not picking up!” I hear someone say. Tinka pushes her way through the crowd toward us.

“Were you able to see what’s wrong?”

“Let’s just go to my place. I’ll bring you all back tomorrow morning.” Harvey says with a gruff command.

“Oh, awesome.” Nate exhales.

“Your place?” Tinka looks at me, her eyebrows raised. “Are you going?”

“She doesn’t have an option.” Harvey answers for me, already heading toward his apartment door. I scoff, but Tinka pulls me along so we go back into my place. The guys don’t follow us in.

“The way he kissed you in front of her!” Tinka grabs my shoulders and shakes me, making my head bobble. “Let’s talk about that! That was so hot! Did you see the way Jenna had veins popping on her forehead?”

Tinka burst out in an hysterical laugh, and I join her for a moment because I didn’t know she had that on her forehead.

“She did?”

“Yeah! Obviously, you didn’t see because you were too busy getting rough with your man.” Tinka uses her fingers to draw a shameless circle in the air around my chest, and I swat her hand away, bursting into laughter.

Wait. Jenna had veins on her forehead? After everything she’s done to make my life miserable? That feels good.

I guess I can’t fault Harvey for that move, then.

“Don’t make it seem like I enjoyed the kiss, though.” I hiss.

“Yeah, of course. Like we all didn’t see it.” She grins. “We’re going to Harvey’s place, right? Please don’t say no. God knows I want to see what a multi-millionaire casino king’s house looks like.”

“Well,” I start walking away in the dim light. I know my apartment layout, so I’m not scared of tripping. “I’ll go, but just so it hurts Jenna even more. Not for any other reason.”

“Of course. Grab me a few t-shirts that’ll make Nate notice my butt.”

“No,” I tell her flatly and head to my room. I grab a bag and pack some joggers, a few t-shirts, underwear, my toothbrush, and a comb. Tinka and I come back out. The boys are already waiting outside Harvey’s apartment. Harvey’s flashlight is on my face again, like he can’t get enough of looking at me.

“Take enough clothes? Here’s your phone.” He hands it to me, and I grab it, scowling.

“It’s not like I’m staying for weeks, are we?” I say, and I see his face lift in a smile, like this situation is perfect for him. This pretending thing is getting a little too good for him, and he’s actually enjoying it.

We all have to take the freaking many stairs down since the elevators are dead. Harvey insists on giving me a piggyback ride on the way, but I just roll my eyes and shake my head, pretending I wouldn’t secretly love to be on his back, holding onto those muscles.

When we finally get to the cars, Tinka, of course, hops into Nate and David’s vehicle, leaving me to drive with Harvey.

I use his car’s visor mirror to check my reflection as he drives out of the parking lot. I don’t know if it’s because I’m ovulating or because he kissed me so thoroughly, but there’s just something about Harvey steering and driving with those powerful arms that makes my heart race.

In about thirty minutes, we get to his beautiful home. It’s the absolute pinnacle of luxury. You’d think a casino owner wouldn’t know anything about interior design, but this place is completely awe-inspiring. Fountains, perfectly gardens, such tall house with his butler already standing at the door.

“Evening, Miss Jennifer.”

“Evening.” I smile

“I’m Tinka. Like Tinkerbell. I’m her best friend,” Tinka introduces herself to the old man, and I have to pull her forward so she doesn’t give him a headache.

I watch Harvey walking ahead of me. I didn’t even realize he’d taken my bag…the one with all my clothes, out of the car. The way he’s carrying it, slung over his shoulder so casually… no. Stop, Jennifer. Not everything
