Chapter 116 When the Verdict Fell
“I want him to know we can fix our problems without him. He’s the one who can’t get by without us.”
All three women’s eyes turned ice–cold right then and there.
They had given Evan more than enough chances these last few weeks. Yet, he had squandered every one of them. He had the to scowl at them, give them attitude, and test their patience. Now that they had taken matters into their own hands, his little wish had gone up in smoke.
“The cooling–off period for the divorce is almost over. If Evan has any sense, he’ll apologize before it’s over.” Hazel had beer counting the days religiously, and her voice carried a hard edge.
Unfortunately, the three of them had no idea that the only reason Roxanne had been allowed to return to the Leighton family was Evan himself.
“I’ve paid off half of what I owed Roxanne,” Evan murmured as he looked toward the horizon, his expression distant. Now all had to do was complete the life–saving drug for the Leighton family.
He called Ivana to ask about the progress on gathering the ingredients. Although Evan could refine the Leighton family’s life- saving drug, the herbs required for it were nearly impossible to find.
“I’m afraid there’s no progress on that front,” Ivana said apologetically. “But honestly, kiddo, there’s something else you nee to keep an eye on.”
“What is it?” Evan arched a brow in surprise.
“The entire southside has been restless lately. A lot of major forces have been heading toward the state capital. Something big brewing.” Ivana’s voice grew grim.
“The state capital? Silveraberg?” Evan froze, then immediately/sensed something off.
Cain was in the state capital, and Hugo had mentioned that the overlord had been busy with the appraisal of the drakeblood
gemstone.
At that very moment, representatives from cities across the state had gathered outside a sprawling luxury estate on the outskart! of the state capital. Every last one of them held a status powerful enough to influence the military, business, and bouts al words across the entire province.
Even Hugo, who had become one of the many faces in the crowd, telt like he could barely breathe under the pressure
Not a single person inside the vast courtyard dared to make a sound. Everyone held thett breath, staring toward the mandi entrance. After all, they had all been invited here to witness a historic moment
Even though most of them already had an answer in the hearts, none dated to voice a conclusion before the off sale still was announced.
The air fell suffocating it felt as if minutes had dragged on for what seemed like an eternity
‘Gulp… Someone swallowed nervously
Just then..
‘Creak…‘
The manor doors opened, and every gaze snapped toward them

“They’re here!”
A refined–looking middle aged man stepped forward. It was Peter Caldwell, one of the state capital’s most renowned jewelry appraisers. His eyes were so sharp that people joked he was a walking identification device. Apparently, there was no gemstone he couldn’t appraise.
“Mr. Caldwell… What’s the verdict? Is it real?” someone asked, their voice trembling.
Peter didn’t speak. He simply shook his head and let out a long, weary sigh.
‘Boom!‘
The moment he sighed, the entire Silverberg elite circle practically lost its mind.
