Chapter 120 The Girl From the Admission Letter

He instinctively recalled the old, time-worn photo printed on that admission letter-the photo of the girl who single-handedly boosted Silverton University’s enrollment rate by 20%, the extraordinary young woman who even made Sylvie feel pressured by her presence.

A sleepy, bare-faced girl ambled down the stairs. The moment their eyes met, everything seemed to pause-it was like even the air held its breath.

Estelle snapped awake instantly, her eyes widening in shock.

“Give me a second!” She spun around and disappeared before the words were even out.

When she reappeared, she looked like an entirely different person-stunning, almost unreal, as if she had walked/ straight out of a film. But what shocked Evan wasn’t her beauty-it was the unmistakable familiarity of her face

“It’s you!” Evan couldn’t stop the startled cry. His expression was pure disbelief.

Estelle flashed a mischievous smile. “We meet again.”

Evan recognized her-the girl from the antique market the other day.

And as if she’d done it on purpose, she was wearing the exact outfit from the admission letter: a spotless white dress. Her features were delicate, her aura clean and almost otherworldly, her eyes bright with warmth-so vivid they looked like they could talk.

Her presence was inimitable: like a snow-white bloom high on a mountaintop-pure, aloof, untouchable. And at the same time, like the brightest morning star hanging over the far northern horizon-brilliant, lonely, impossible to grasp. Cold elegance and noble poise intertwined, soft beauty and a hint of mischief coexisting effortlessly.

At that moment, the scene from the admission letter became vividly real in Evan’s mind-sunlight, a gentle breeze, the century-old campus, and the girl in white. Estelle Laurent.

The same girl Sylvie had guarded against at every turn, the one she considered as unpredictable as a star in the southern sky. And yet here she was, seated before Evan.

“Estelle, sit next to Evan!” Belinda was already pulling out a chair-conveniently, the one right beside him.

“Okay.” Estelle sat down gracefully at his side, her lips curving into a tiny, almost imperceptible smirk.

Sean added openly, “Spend more time with Evan in the future. It’ll be good for you.”

Their meaning couldn’t have been clearer. They wanted the two of them to be around each other—and maybe, just maybe, something would happen. In Belinda’s mind, Evan was already family.

“Got it. Evan, I’ll come find you all the time from now on.” Her smile was sweet, but beneath it, she looked every bit the mischievous little devil.

The whole family was overwhelmingly warm, leaving Evan unsure how to respond.

Estelle leaned closer, her bright eyes blinking up at him as she whispered, “Don’t say no. You’ve turned me down twice already–are you really going for a third?”

Up close, Estelle looked like a porcelain doll. Evan felt his heart thump faster despite himself.

“Turned her down twice? Only once at the antique market… Oh. Right. Dozens of people had been introduced to me through the Iron Dragon. I turned them all down. She must have been one of them.’

Belinda didn’t help matters. “Oh, don’t be shy, Evan. I’m not one to beat around the bush, so I’ll cut to the chase- I want my daughter to marry you. Once Estelle graduates, you two can have the wedding. Or if you can’t wait, we can even do it now!”
