Sorry Too Late (by J.J. Twelve) novel Chapter 125

Chapter 125 The Buried Truth Surfaces

Zeke listened even harder, not daring to miss a single word.

“So, Evan really wasn’t lying-Darius actually framed him. The whole Norwood family knew the truth, yet they still chose to side with Darius and pin the crime of stealing Mr. Solomon’s drakeblood gemstone on Evan.”

Roxanne and Anya stiffened. They remembered that Evan had said something like this before, but no one had believed him.

Instead, they had scolded him harshly. If it really had been true-if he had been betrayed by his own family and no one believed him-how hopeless must that have felt?

Hazel’s gaze sharpened. “If the real Norwood heir was the one who stole it back then, then this time-the counterfeit gemstone-would be part of Darius’ plan too.” Her voice lowered. “Which means the real gemstone should still be with him.”

The implication detonated in the room. Even Zeke was stunned. If Hazel was right, it flipped everything on its head-Evan had been carrying Darius’ sin all along.

“But in a circle like ours, who cares about the truth? People only acknowledge the version they want to believe.” Hazel’s voice cooled. “Everyone in Silverton’s elite circle believes Evan stole the gemstone and was cast out of the Norwood family like a beaten stray.”

Roxanne and Anya exchanged a look before smiling. “That accusation from three years ago is already carved in stone. There’s no undoing it.”

That was the darkness of their world. Truth didn’t matter-only the “approved” truth did. And everyone was expected to play along, like now.

Cain’s gemstone was fake, and Evan was the obvious suspect. Cain would come for him. And if anyone dared step in-truth or not-they’d be seen as breaking the rules. The one person everyone would unite against.

Hazel and the others were certain that Evan would soon come crawling back, apologizing, begging. This was Mr. Solomon-a man Evan feared more than anyone in his life, a man he saw as Death itself.

But in reality, Evan wasn’t nervous at all.

He hadn’t even taken the matter seriously and had already asked Ivana to investigate.

It was a difficult task, but for Ivana, it was hardly a challenge. The results should be coming soon. Darius’ days were numbered.

Evan finally had the power to turn the tables on him.

The Norwood family’s Eisenberg Castle was one of the grandest estates in all of Silverton.

The Norwoods had grown at a staggering pace over the past three years. They had gone from a third-rate household to one of the city’s absolute elites. Their rise was so fast that no other family could keep up, and the reason behind their sudden ascent remained a mystery.

Inside the castle, a young man in an elegant suit lounged comfortably as he sipped tea. His gold-adorned secretary smiled admiringly. “Mr. Norwood, the Norwood family owes everything to you. All of this glory was built by your hands. You turned an ordinary family into a true powerhouse.’

Flattery, yes–but Darius still felt it land. He couldn’t help enjoying it.

“It’s not all my doing. My brother deserves credit, too. Without his… contributions, we wouldn’t be where we are today.”

A cold smile curved his lips.

The drakeblood gemstone had built the family’s success, yet Evan had been the one carrying the blame.

“Sir! Terrible news!” A servant burst in, breathless.

“What is it? Why are you making a scene?” Darius snapped. The Norwoods were worth billions now-what disaster could possibly shake them?

“Word just came from the state capital-the drakeblood gemstone in Mr. Solomon’s possession has been exposed as a fake!”
