Chapter 33 A Premonition
“Excuse me, Ms. Stanton. May I see your hand?”
No one could have imagined that this would be Evan’s very first line to Ivana.
Sylvie froze on the spot. Ivana was just as stunned, completely at a loss for words.
“Forgive me.” Before Ivana could even respond, Evan reached out and firmly took her hand.
Everyone was struck dumb as they never saw his actions coming.
William sucked in a sharp breath, staring at Evan in sheer horror. ‘Kid, you’ve got some nerve. Not only are you tricking Sylvie, but you’ve also dared to put your paws on Ivana? Do you have any idea what you’ve just done? That is the Queen of Finance!
Ivana herself was shocked. Still, fury surged through her when she finally returned to her senses. She raised her remaining hand in the air, more than ready to slap him silly.
“Aunt Ivana, don’t!” Sylvie cried out urgently. “If he wants to touch your hand, let him!”
Her voice cut through the room, steady and resolute.
“What?” The shock only deepened. Ivana’s hand promptly stopped in midair.
What they didn’t know was that Evan had uncovered Sylvie’s greatest secret long before he’d even touched her–frost poison. Now that he had Ivana’s hand under his fingertips, he immediately noticed something similar.
Her hand felt cool and soft beneath his fingers. Nevertheless, it was the faint, delicate fragrance wafting off Ivana that caught his attention.
It was her natural scent. It smelled nothing like the crisp youth that seemed to linger around Sylvie. This was richer. It was akin to blooming flowers that seemed to brush against his skin. It was a scent that one could hardly forget.
Still, now wasn’t the time for him to dwell on any of that. Instead, he closed his eyes and focused.
Fragments of blurred images flashed through his mind. He saw a truck losing control before it smashed violently into the car
Ivana was in.
‘So, this is the Ninefold Arcane Arts,‘ he thought. ‘It can foresee danger?‘
Evan opened his eyes and released her hand.
A flush of humiliation rose to Ivana’s face. “What do you think you’re doing?” she snapped.
“Ms. Stanton,” Evan said quietly, his voice low and grave “You will face a bloody disaster today.”
That was the last straw.
“A bloody disaster?” Ivana exploded. “You’re the one headed for disaster! What is wrong with you? How could you grab someone the moment you meet them and then start spouting nonsense?”
Now, she was starting to believe William. How could a shameless flirt like this be some miracle doctor who brought people back from the brink of death? He’d probably just struck gold by chance.
Evan remained calm. “You don’t have to believe me, Ms. Stanton. Still, please don’t ride a car when you leave later”
“How ridiculous. You’re insane, that’s what you are! How exactly am I supposed to go home it not in a
a car?”
The Queen of Finance was known for her composure. Yet, this nobody had managed to worm under her skin. No one would believe it even if they saw this happening themselves.
Sylvie smiled gently. “Aunt Ivana, just listen to Evan. He’s always been right. Everyone thought Grandpa was beyond saving
back then. However, Evan was the only one who said he could be saved, and he did it.”

That was an undeniable facs Len William couldn’t refute her words. Nonetheless, he stubbornly chalked it up to sheer luck. He had no doubt that Evan Would fail if he faced a similar situation once more.
“Sylvie, you’re still too young and too hajve,” William warned, “You haven’t seen how dangerous the world can be. That makes you easy prey for people with bad intentions.”
Ivana agreed with him on that point.
Sylvie was young. On top of that, the frost poison that once doomed her to die before 21 had limited her understanding of the world. It was easy as pie to manipulate her.
That was precisely why Ivana had come to stop Sylvie from getting involved with Evan.
Then again, her father was all for their relationship. He even wanted to marry Sylvie off to this young man. It was one thing for the young to be naive, but how could the old and wise be just as blind?
