Chapter 69 Mistaken Identity
Hazel couldn’t help recalling the incident at the hospital with Gaius, who should have been dead, had been brought back to life by a miracle doctor.
Caleb had been there too, hadn’t he?
“Is it possible that Dr. Stone was telling the truth?”
Her expression shifted. She looked at Artemisia and said, “Ms. Stone, you might actually learn great things if you become his apprentice.”
“That’s impossible!” Artemisia denied it instantly, reacting as if she had heard a ridiculous joke. “I know every renowned doctor in Silverton, and not one of them is fit to be my mentor!”
Artemisia tilted her chin pridefully.
Seeing this, Hazel stopped trying to persuade her. Instead, she asked, “Then, can you take us with you? We want to meet them too!”
“Huh? Hazel…”
Roxanne and Anya hadn’t caught on yet, so they couldn’t help but look at her in confusion. Hazel immediately shot them a meaningful look.
The two of them quickly understood. “Hazel, are you saying…” they trailed off.
The next moment, they joined in. “That’s right, Artemisia. Please let us come with you.”
“Ms. Stone, let’s go pick him up together! We can head straight to the banquet afterward!”
“Of course, you can come.” Although Artemisia was puzzled, she agreed readily. She glanced at her watch. “Crap, it’s almost time. We need to pick him up now!”
The four women piled into the car and sped toward the destination.
On the way there, Artemisia asked Roxanne, who was in the passenger seat, “Enough about me. Roxanne, what about you?”
Roxanne’s eyes dimmed when her life was brought into question. She let out a bitter smile. “My dear friend, my life hasn’t been nearly as good as yours.”
She began to recount how she had been sidelined by her family for the past three years because she had stolen medicine.
Artemisia was shocked. “You’re saying you stole the Leighton family’s life-saving drug for a mere substitute?”
Roxanne nodded gloomily. “Yes. You should understand how important Zeke is to me, and it’s not just me. Hazel and Anya also paid huge prices to save him! But I regret it now…”

Her tone shifted sharply. “I shouldn’t have given him the medicine. He’s completely out of our control now! Not only has he forgotten everything we did for him, but he’s also incredibly disrespectful by insulting us!”
“Yeah, he even refused to help when Zeke needed a blood transfusion,” Hazel and Anya chimed in. “Only his blood type matched, but he just sat there and said it wasn’t his problem!”
“He even beat Zeke up, all out of pure jealousy!”
The three heiresses spoke incessantly, filled with righteous indignation as they vented their frustrations regarding Evan. They completely forgot the years of unfair treatment they had orchestrated, or the many times they had forced Evan to become Zeke’s blood bag.
Artemisia became furious after hearing their tale. “Is that true? This Evan guy is a total ingrate! You guys are the ones who saved his life! He’d be dead without you! How could he behave like that? Roxanne, you were even exiled by your family because of him-it’s just not worth it!”
Artemisia hadn’t expected her dear friend to be in such a state all these years. So, she couldn’t help but pity her.
She had gone abroad to study five years ago, while Hazel and the others had brought Evan home only three years ago. Therefore, she had no idea Evan even existed.
As a result, she felt nothing but pure loathing for this person, having only heard about him from Hazel and the others. She couldn’t help but wonder, ‘How could someone be so ungrateful?’
A fire of indignation burned within her.
“Roxanne, don’t worry. I hadn’t been able to support you as a friend, but I’m back now. I’ll definitely help you settle this score! He’d better not cross my path, or I’ll break his legs!”
Artemisia hadn’t just studied medicine abroad, having taken the time to learn self-defense. As a result, she now had a black belt in martial arts.
“Let’s not talk about it. It’s ruining the mood. By the way, are we there yet?” Roxanne looked out the
window.
“Almost,” Artemisia said, stepping on the gas.
“Why aren’t they here yet?” Evan had been waiting for a while, checking his watch every so often.
“This is the place!”
The four women got out of the car and began looking around. Artemisia looked impatient, while Hazel and the others were anxious and tense. They wondered if the person they were picking up was truly the miracle doctor they were looking for.
