Chapter 70 A Perfectly Missed Encounter

Evan also happened to be her future mentor.

Artemisia’s expression darkened instantly, and she was about to storm over.

“Ms. Stone, wait!” Hazel stopped her at once.

“Hm? What is it?”

“He’s not the person you’re here to pick up!” Hazel bit her lip. “He’s the Evan we were talking about.”

“What?” The words landed like a thunderclap. Artemisia’s expression changed completely.

The one waiting here wasn’t the person her father wanted her to pick up, but Evan?

Her first thought was that Hazel had to be joking. Yet, the other heiresses all had grim expressions on their faces when she looked at them.

Only then did Artemisia begin to realize the truth, her face sinking by the second.

She was already in a foul mood about having to become an apprentice to begin with, and now she’d run into that ungrateful Evan on top of it? 1

That was just perfect. She needed someone to vent her anger anyway.

“So he’s that ungrateful Evan?” Artemisia snapped. “Fine. I’ll teach him a lesson for you!”

She charged forward in a rage.

“No!” Hazel rushed to block her again. “Ms. Stone, the priority right now is picking the miracle doctor up, not getting tangled up with Evan.”

Roxanne and Anya chimed in immediately. “Exactly. And this guy is really manipulative. He’s like gum stuck to your shoe. You can’t shake him off once he latches on to you. He must have followed us here on purpose, setting up a fake coincidence to get our attention!”

“It’d be awful if you got yourself stuck with him just to stand up for us.”

“Huh?” Artemisia blinked. “He’s that bad?”

Artemisia finally felt uneasy in the face of the trio’s warning.

She wasn’t afraid of dealing with Evan. However, she was afraid of being framed by him.

It was like getting scammed for money at a traffic accident where they never touched the guy, but he insisted they hit him anyway.

Evan to be that kind of person. So, her impression of him sank even lower.

into the car.

“Artemisia, you should probably double-check the location with Dr. Stone,” Roxanne said. “It feels like we’re at the wrong place. Otherwise, why would we run into Evan?”

Artemisia found it odd, but she smiled the next moment. “It’s fine. I’ll wait ten more minutes. If no one shows up, I’ll just assume he bailed.”

She hadn’t wanted to come pick him up in the first place. Hence, it suited her just fine if the person didn’t

show.

“But…” Hazel hesitated before eventually swallowing her words.

At that moment, all the guests had arrived at the Crownridge Grand Hotel.

Caleb was only waiting for Evan.

Even Sylvie had shown up by now.

The entire hall fell silent the instant she walked in.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to look at her.

First, because she was breathtakingly beautiful.

Second, because the elegance she exuded with every gesture was something none of them could possibly possess.

The Silverton elite circle was already considered top-tier. So, they were in no means inferior to the Uppersea elite circle in the slightest.

Yet, not a single one of the heiresses from Silverton came close to exuding such effortless grace.

“Dr. Stone, who is that?”

The powerful figures present all began quietly speculating about her background.

Caleb smiled mysteriously. “Her? She’s quite something…”

He whispered a few words.

Soon, sharp breaths echoed throughout the hall.

The top elites were now completely astonished by Sylvie.

However, Caleb continued smiling. “Still, she’s not the star tonight. Someone else is. I’ve already sent my daughter to pick him up. He should be here soon.”

Anticipation rippled through the crowd.

Caleb thought to himself, ‘Artemisia must have already met Evan by now.’
