Chapter 83 A Fractured Calm

“Ms. Stanton? Are you referring to Ivana Stanton?”

Roxanne didn’t know Sylvie, but her mind immediately jumped to Ivana when she heard Artemisia ask about a certain “Ms. Stanton”.

“It’s nothing.” Artemisia shut her mouth, but a storm was raging within her.

They were still in the divorce cooling off period, yet Evan kad already gotten himself a fiancee. Something must’ve gone wrong. Hazel was being a complete fool.

Artemisia reminded her, saying, “Roxanne, I really think you should figure out what Mr. Norwood truly wants before jumping to conclusions. You shouldn’t make decisions on his behalf.”

“Huh? What do you mean? This is what he wants!” Roxanne replied, her eyes wide in disbelief.

From their perspective, Evan would soon grovel before them. The divorce cooling-off period was just their warning for him to be obedient.

“What if Mr. Norwood has someone new in his life?” Artemisia suggested cautiously.

“He wouldn’t dare!” Roxanne glared fiercely. “He won’t touch another woman as long as we’re around! He’d probably just use some girl to put on a show. He wouldn’t dare step a toe out of line.

“Even if there really was someone, he was probably just using her to provoke us. It’s just another one of his tricks.”

They had complete control over Evan’s social life for the past three years. No other women were allowed near him. After all, they’d chased and warned away all the women who’d tried flirting with him.

It had happened in the past. There had been a girl who showed interest in Evan. She even had the gall to express it repeatedly. When they found out, they promptly made her disappear.

Artemisia sighed. “Roxanne, I can see that both you and Ms. Solberg have feelings for Mr. Norwood. Why are you hurting him like this? Why not just get along? Is a long-lost first love really that important?”

Roxanne frowned, clearly irritated. “Artemisia, what are you trying to say? You’ll never understand our relationship with Evan. You’ll also never understand what Zeke means to us!”

She looked at Artemisia strangely. “Artemisia, what’s gotten into you? You’ve been acting like a different person ever since you were forced to give an apology to that doctor. By the way, Evan’s last name is Solberg, not Norwood.”

Artemisia opened her mouth to speak, but Hazel’s panicked voice pierced the air before she could get a word out. “What are you still standing there? Zeke’s vomiting blood again!”

Roxanne immediately grabbed Artemisia’s hand and started heading inside, explaining, “Artemisia, I didn’t mean anything by what I said. I just don’t want Evan to come between us.”

Artemisia said nothing, only giving Roxanne a deep, steady look.

Now, she was certain that Evan had completely severed ties with the three heiresses. He had started a new life and gotten himself a fiancee. Plus, his fiancee was beautiful. They just didn’t know that fact yet.

Her father had been right. The three heiresses would eventually become obstacles on her path to success, so she had to stay away from them.

Artemisia shook her head after giving Zeke a thorough checkup. “There’s nothing I can do about this.”

“Ms. Stone, I know Zeke’s condition is tricky, but didn’t you see that miracle doctor at Villa No. 1? You’ve even got his forgiveness, haven’t you?”

Hazel and Roxanne’s goal was simple. They wanted Artemisia to ask the miracle doctor at Villa No. 1 for help.

Sadly, Artemisia turned the down firmly. “Don’t even bother. He won’t treat Zeke. You also don’t have to try clearing the air or apologizing to him. There are no misunderstandings between you and the doctor.”

“What?” The two of them froze in shock

If the miracle doctor was out of the picture, was there any other way for them to save Zeke?

Roxanne suddenly remembered something. She gripped Artemisia’s hand tightly. “Artemisia, didn’t you get a damaged ancient formula? Would that help Zeke?”

Artemisia looked at her strangely.

She should’ve known that Roxanne’s expertise in medicine would push her to pin her hopes on the formula.
