"You cannot win, bloodsucker! This battlefield is ours! This war is ours! We won’t give up! We won’t die! You will rot in hell for all eternity! You will fall!"
The massive thing howled in pain and resentment, despite being on the verge of death. A cruel glint shone in his eyes. Its roar degenerated into a wet, gurgling sound as divine fire and blood essence tore through it from the inside.
The werevampire commander went limp, its enormous frame sinking into the ruined earth. The moment its life force vanished, the remaining sigils shattered completely. The shared blood war formation imploded in on itself.
The surviving werevampires clutched their heads as if their skulls were splitting open. Some screamed. Others didn’t even have time to react before their blood vessels ruptured from within. Bodies dropped one after another, auras extinguished in seconds.
A few staggered back, trying to flee, but their legs failed them, muscles refusing to respond as the severed hive-mind left them hollow. The remaining were slaughtered by Damon from where he was standing. They were no longer outstanding and simply couldn’t match him.
In the end, only the sound of crackling divine fire and Damon’s steady breathing remained.
Damon stood over the corpse, chest rising and falling slowly. Blood steamed faintly from his skin, his aura still raging but controlled, coiling tightly around him like a restrained beast. He placed a hand on the pack leader’s chest.
The corpse shuddered once more as thick crimson essence surged into Damon’s body.
Damon then clenched his other hand. Threads of crimson rose from every corpse scattered across the battlefield, lifting like mist pulled by an unseen tide. They streamed toward Damon in converging arcs, slipping past shattered armor, through cracked bone and ruptured flesh, until they poured into him in a torrential rush.
The ground darkened as the last remnants were drained dry.
Damon closed his eyes as he took everything in. Notifications rolled in one after the other, but before he could completely assimilate everything, his eyes flashed open again, and his gaze turned cold. He was once again not alone.
He finally understood what the werevampire meant when he said Damon couldn’t win in this battlefield. Several other silhouettes appeared all around him. Moreover, every single one of their eyes glowed crimson.
Damon suddenly thought of something. What if the entire army was still here? The entire army that clashed and perished back in the war of the ancient era...
More vampiric beast abominations rushed towards him. Each one shockingly held the strength of a peak C rank expert, and Damon was still somewhat on the border between the outskirts and the inner areas. He hadn’t even stepped into the true inner regions of the wilderness yet. Then there was also the rumored core region where monstrosities even the B ranks feared lay.
