Long after Erica left, I was still so confused. Because of all her comments, I ended up losing the rest of my appetite and decided to just go find Zoren. After all, I needed to speak with him, to set some things straight between us so he don’t assume what went between us last night and this morning would ever repeat itself. I found him in his office which I can now find myself.

“Come in.” He urged and I stepped into the room, feeling a tremor shoot through me as soon as his eyes settled on me. There was just something about him. I don’t know what it was but it always have me feeling breathless whenever I’m in his

presence.

“So…. hello.” I began awkwardly and he snorted while waving me even closer, but I didn’t move because it felt like I’d just grow more breathless if I do that, and so I began to speak because I wanna get this over with as fast as possible so that I could leave.

“Erica came to meet me a while ago and she told me a lot of things, confusing things.” I began and Zoren frowned as his face darkened.

“Erica? So she’s yet to leave?!” He thundered so hard that I flinched, then I blinked at him, wondering what was going on, but he urged me to continue.

“Frankly, she threatened me and I decided to come here even though I know that you might not believe me over her words again, but I don’t want her to hurt my son even if she’d hurt me…” I was still speaking when Zoren cut in.

“You have nothing to worry about anymore, she’s not gonna hurt you or our son no matter what.” He said it with a firm note of finality, his face looking grim.

“Whatever Erica said to you, don’t let it get to you.” He finally added and when he added nothing else, I added.

“She acccusdd me of stealing you and that made no sense to me cause you’re still together, right?” I asked and when he shrugged, I gaped at him, shock filling my insides.

“You broke up with her?!” I echoed, unable to believe my ears. When he nodded, a flood of happiness filled my insides before I realized what was happening, then I felt extremely mortified and instantly asked myself why the hell I was feeling that way.

“I can’t believe this. I thought you were in love with her?!” I asked cause I could still vividly remember our conversation five years ago which broke me whereby he told me he was in love with Erica. He snorted after a few moments, rolling his eyes as well before he spoke.

“How’s your wrist? Does it still hurt?” At those words, I glanced down at my wrist and moved it a little. It hurt no more.

“It’s fine now. I thought you believed that I was the one who hurt Erica and now you’re asking after my wrist.” I pointed out and he sighed as he pushed out of his seat and walked around his table, and my heartbeat instantly accelerated as he stepped even closer till he was only a few feet away.

“I know the truth now, okay? I had no idea she was like that before.” He admitted, voice quiet as he spoke and more surprise engulfed me when he suddenly reached out to grab my wrist and stroke his thumb over my pulse point there. I swallows emptily, my heart beating even faster as a shiver rolled down my spine.

His eyes were boring into mine as he continued. “And I’m sorry it took me long to see through her lies. I hate that I kept defending her and that I let her get away with hurting you.”

My mouth fell open cause i couldn’t believe Zoren of all people was apologizing to me right now, and worst, he sounded extremely sincere that it made my stomach clench tightly. He was yet to let go of my wrist and which each stroke of his thumb over my skin, it seems to make me lose bits of my braincells.

“Oh, it’s fine.” I whispered, my voice embarrassingly weak then I cleared my throat and added, voice firmer. “Thank you for apologising.”

He hummed, his eyes slowly raking over me from head to toe and slowly, color rushed into my face as I tried hard to appear unfazed, but it was hard with him standing so close and yet so far away. Something deep within me was pushing me to close the distance between us and curl up against his chest, but that’s the last thing I’d be doing.

“What were you here to tell me?” He asked, bringing me back to the present. I gulped and attempted pulling my wrist free of his hold but instead of letting go of me, he tugged me close, making my breath stutter in my chest as I fell flush against his chest. My entire body felt like it was heating up at a really fast rate and I was breathing hard when I tried but fail to push off his body, cause now a hand of his was pinned on my waist.

“Z–Zoren, let go of me.” I breathed out, trying to sound annoyed but my voice was embarrassingly weak.

“Just tell me whatever you planned to while being held against me.” He muttered and I sighed, wondering why he was being so difficult right now.

“Why are you holding me?” I demanded, a shiver rolling down my body when his hand around my waist suddenly slipped underneath my shirt to splay flat against my bare back. The contact made me suck in a sharp breath and instantly grow stiff against his body.

“Because I want to.” He replied matter of factly like that made total sense. I spluttered, my face and body growing even hotter when his fingers began to slid up and down my spine, the touch feeling almost electrocuting.

“Y–you can’t just do things because you want them.” I whispered weakly but he scoffed, then his head was leaning into the curve of my throat and his lips brushed my ear when he spoke.

“I can because you’re mine.”

Those words made my stomach clench really hard while my heard flew into my throat. I hated that those words were making me feel tingly all over, cause those words were quite ridiculous.

“T- that’s actually why I’m here, I wanna talk a- about that.” I began, my voice stuttering at some point when his boss dragged a line down the curve of my neck. He let out a hum as his second hand joined his first hand underneath my shirt.

“Go on.” He urged and I had to suck In a deep breath to regulate my thoughts and help me ground myself.

“I came here… to- to tell you that what happened between us last night and this morning were mistakes, which can’t happen again. I don’t belong to you and I’m not yours. I’ll still keep on dating Nico, and…”

I was still speaking when Zoren suddenly pulled away, his face stormy when they faced me, making me instantly gulp and attempt to take a step back, but he caught my hand and held me in the same spot I was standing in. As he wordlessly regarded me for a few seconds, he slowly burst into laugher.

“Do you genuinely think I’ll share you with anyone now?” He asked and I spluttered cause it’s clear he’s miasef the entire point.

“There’s no sharing, Zoren, cause there won’t be a repeat…”

“Of cause there will be a repeat. You’re mine now, Ciara. What don’t you understand about that?”

As I kept staring up at him, I felt frustration settle in my chest just as he continued.

“Now, you’ll end things with that bastard Nico.” He announced in a final–note voice and I glared ar him, feeling so annoyed that he was just listing a bunch of rules and expecting me to follow all of them.

“And why would I do that? He’s my boyfriend and I can’t just snd things with him because you asked me to.” I shot back at him before I could stop myself.

“You’ll do that because you’ve now been claimed by me.” He explained but that left me more confused.

“What the fuck does that mean? You can’t just… just do that after everything, especially after the past we shared, how things ended.”

He was silent but a bit before shrugging. “The fates has decided for us so it’s pointless for me to keep fighting that. The fate has given you to me, has made you mine.”

My heart caught as I stared at him.

“What does that mean?” I whispered.

“It means we’re fated mates, Ciara. It means we’re destined to be together, and were made for each other.” As he spoke, my eyes widened from utmost shock cause I couldn’t believe my ears one bit. I was so shocked that I could barely breathe.

Fated mates? Made for each other…?

“So this means we’ll be like officially together?” I asked slowly and he shrugged.

“Why not?”

I gaped ar him in utter shock at that question. “What do you mean by why not? You’re not in love with me, for one. You stil believe im a thief, two. And three, you won’t be saying all this if it wasn’t for this fated mates thingy being involved, and well, I don’t wanna get together with someone with someone who’d only get together because of this fated mates thingy.”
