Ivy's gaze turned icy. "Only someone with a filthy mind sees filth everywhere."
Wayne Fuller looked her up and down, a sleazy smirk tugging at his lips. "Listen, sweetheart, I've got a pretty solid net worth myself. That Mercedes out front is mine. You might as well just get with me. A guy like Mr. Donovan—calling him Capital City's golden boy wouldn't even be a stretch. Stop dreaming. Instead of chasing fantasies, you'd be better off..."
His beady eyes gleamed, his voice growing increasingly vile.
As he spoke, he stepped closer to her.
Ivy backed away. "Are you out of your mind? Don't touch me. Get the hell away."
"You're going to sleep with someone eventually, so why not try it with me?" Wayne sneered.
A wave of nausea hit Ivy. She turned to leave, but Wayne grabbed her wrist, leaning in to lower his voice. "You're out here working part-time tonight and haven't made a dime. It's pathetic. How about a thousand bucks for one night?"
"Let go!"
Ivy struggled, but Wayne only tightened his grip.
"Stop playing the innocent virgin!" Wayne had been rejected by several women lately and just gotten chewed out by his boss; his bruised ego demanded an outlet.
Ivy didn't have the energy to argue with a scumbag like him. She just wanted to get away, fighting desperately to pry his filthy fingers off her.
But she couldn't break his hold.
"Let her go."
A chilling, razor-sharp voice sliced through the tension.
Wayne opened his mouth to curse out whoever dared interrupt his fun.
But the moment he saw the man approaching, the insults died in his throat.
The arrogant sneer froze on his face.
It was instantly replaced by sheer, unadulterated panic.
Because standing just a few feet away was the very golden boy he had just been talking about—Eliam Donovan.
The man was exceptionally tall, wearing a flawlessly tailored dark suit. His jacket was draped casually over one arm, and while his posture seemed relaxed, his predatory gaze was sharp enough to cut glass, radiating a suffocating dominance.
"Mr. Donovan..." Wayne managed a pathetic, fawning smile.
Eliam stared at the wrist Wayne was still clutching, his expression darkening. "I said let her go. Are you deaf?"
Reality finally crashed down on Wayne.
This part-time worker wasn't lying.
She actually knew Eliam Donovan.
Ivy was finally free. She rubbed her aching wrist, staring at the man who suddenly felt like a total stranger.
Eliam frowned slightly and shot a glance at the bodyguard beside him.
The towering man marched over, throwing a thick arm around Wayne's neck and dragging him toward the parking lot. "Manager Fuller, since you can't keep your hands to yourself, how about I chop them off for you?"
