Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 140

She knew because just ten minutes ago, her best friend Tessa Thorne had spotted Xavier while out on a date with her fiancé, Harvey Rhodes.

Tessa had sent her a video showing Xavier watching a fireworks display with Lily, looking incredibly intimate.

Tessa had said she wasn't sure if it would be useful, but she filmed it anyway to save as evidence of his infidelity.

Heartbreak and sorrow immediately clouded Summer's eyes.

That absolute scumbag Xavier was out living his best life, leaving her son completely alone at home without a single ounce of care.

He clearly didn't love the boy, yet he insisted on keeping Leo locked up, refusing to give him back to her.

He was an absolute monster!

Unsure of how to comfort her, Leo offered a sweet smile. "Mom, did anything fun happen today? Tell me so I can be happy too."

Seeing Leo act so incredibly sweet and mature only made Summer's heart ache even more.

She forced a smile. "Well, today I saw a dog wearing human skin. He genuinely thought he was a real person and tried his absolute hardest to act like one, but all he could do was bark."

Kids were so easy to fool. Leo's eyes widened. "Really?"

"Just kidding." Summer laughed softly. "But there are some people in this world who may be human, yet act worse than monsters. They're not even as good as a dog."

Leo nodded thoughtfully, absorbing her words.

Summer smoothly changed the subject to her professor, and this time, her smile was far more genuine.

"But he did assign me some homework. I have to write at least a ten-thousand-word report."

"That much?"

Summer smiled and nodded. "That's nothing. I'm planning to write at least thirty thousand words. I definitely won't let my professor down!"

Leo checked the time. It was getting late, so he sensibly replied, "Then you should go do your homework, Mom, and I'll do mine. Let's see who finishes first."

"Deal." With their little pact made, they hung up the call.

Still, the kid's personality matched his own perfectly. What else could he do but spoil him?

"I'm not at my mom's house." Only when Leo said this did Jude realize he had misunderstood the situation entirely.

Jude instantly tossed his own homework aside and began tutoring Leo instead.

Leo found Jude's teaching style infinitely better than those so-called expert tutors. It was vivid, entertaining, and incredibly easy to understand.

Not only that, but Jude possessed an absurdly vast wealth of knowledge. He knew absolutely everything and could teach absolutely anything.

They finished one subject, moved to another, finished that one, and jumped straight into the next.

Leo decided that claiming this new dad was an absolute steal. Jude was a thousand, no, ten thousand times better than his actual biological father.

What Leo didn't know was that he would go on to collect several more dads in the future, and every single one of them would be tens of thousands of times better than his real one.

But of course, that is a story for later.
