Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 143

Hunter grinned widely. "The Mute Boy speaks! How funny."

Leo's little face remained stony. "Little Lame, don't you have your own parents? Don't you have your own home? You're pathetic."

Hunter suddenly remembered overhearing a conversation between his dad and Lily the other night. That was when he found out Lily was actually his biological mother, and the man he called dad wasn't his real father.

He was just being raised under Miles Sutton's name.

So who was his real dad?

He figured it had to be Xavier.

Xavier liked his mom, and he liked him. His dad was definitely Xavier!

But Xavier was married to Leo's mom, which made Leo the legitimate, public son.

While he was just the illegitimate child forced to hide in the shadows.

Why should that be?!

Leo had already walked past Hunter and was heading toward his room. Hunter sat in his wheelchair, tilting his head as he stared at Leo's back with a malicious grin.

This was his home!

Leo and his mother needed to get the hell out!

He and Lily—no, his mother—were going to move in! They were going to live happily ever after as a family.

The smile on Hunter's face turned wicked. He moved, steering his wheelchair to charge directly at Leo's back.

But just then, the sound of an engine rumbled through the courtyard, followed by Fang's distinct howl.

It had to be Mom!

Leo spun around, eagerly pressing himself against the second-floor railing to look down.

Because Leo suddenly moved out of the way, Hunter, who was charging at top speed with nothing to stop him, couldn't hit the brakes in time. The wheelchair barreled straight toward the staircase.

"Ahhhhh—!"

Hunter shrieked in terror.

Leo turned at the sound. Even though he knew it was a mean thought, he couldn't help feeling a little thrilled.

He hoped that annoying brat Hunter would take a tumble so he'd finally shut up.

But Xavier just happened to be coming upstairs and caught Hunter perfectly. "Hunter, be careful."

"Wahhh! Xavier, thank goodness you were here! I was so scared, wahhh..."

Hunter buried his face in Xavier's chest, sobbing his heart out in dramatic relief.

Leo watched coldly. He felt like he might be a little ruthless because, deep down, he was actually a bit disappointed.

Summer's gaze was ice-cold. "This is my house. I'll come back whenever I damn well please."

"I thought since you moved out, you wouldn't be returning."

Xavier had only just found out Summer had moved out. Not only had she left, but she had practically emptied the place.

When he brought Leo back, he thought they had been robbed and almost called the police.

When he learned it was just Summer moving out, he had been genuinely stunned. She had packed up so thoroughly he thought she was never coming back.

And now, she had returned so quickly to slap him in the face.

Summer scoffed. "Why wouldn't I come back? My name is on the deed. This property belongs to me."

When they bought this house, Xavier had signed an agreement.

This property belonged solely to Summer and wasn't part of their marital assets.

The thought of Xavier and his mistress playing house in her property made her sick to her stomach.

She was going to list the house for sale the second she could.

Summer had no desire to engage with him. She just wanted to find her book, leave, and sell the house.

She grabbed Leo's hand and marched straight upstairs toward the study, only to find that the keypad code had been changed.
