Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 195

Xavier had easily deduced that Summer faked the fainting spell, and he knew exactly what she was trying to achieve.

He wasn't particularly worried, though. Wesley was his oldest friend; they had known each other since they were in diapers.

Summer couldn't sway him with just a few pretty words.

Wesley took a slow sip of tea. "I haven't forgotten. And no, I didn't agree."

Xavier patted him on the shoulder. "Thanks, man. I'm going to go change."

Wesley set his cup down, a slight frown forming. "Are you really going to race? It's been ages since you've been behind the wheel. A wise man doesn't put himself in unnecessary danger."

Back before his older brother fell into a vegetative state, Xavier hadn't had to worry about inheriting the family empire.

He had lived like any other wildly rich heir, enjoying life to the fullest and indulging in extreme sports.

Street racing had been second nature to him.

Then his brother's tragedy struck, Lily was sent out of the country, and Xavier was forced to take over the business and marry Summer. He abandoned everything he loved.

Occasionally, when the stress became too much, he would invite Julian for a few casual laps, but he had never entered a real competition since.

This time, however, Summer's divorce lawsuit had pushed him to the absolute edge.

Especially knowing she had a video of him and Lily sleeping together.

He had played it cool and indifferent to her face, but no amount of wealth or power could overwrite federal law.

If they truly went to court, Summer would undeniably win.

And now she had Silas backing her.

With Silas fueling the fire, his divorce would become a global spectacle, his cheating scandal would trend online, and his grandfather's abusive behavior toward the child would be exposed.

His personal reputation, the corporation's stock prices, and their future developments would all take a catastrophic hit.

Then there was his family. Carlson's health was deteriorating, his mother had a weak heart, and his father suffered from high blood pressure. None of them could withstand this kind of shock.

He could forcefully marry Lily, but a marriage without his family's blessing would be miserable.

He didn't want Lily to suffer, nor did he want to subject her unborn baby to that hostility.

Because of that, she had kept her marriage a total secret.

Tessa finding out had been a complete accident.

Now knowing the full truth, Wyatt immediately fired the two security guards and added Summer's face to the VIP database.

From now on, she could breeze through the entrance with a simple facial scan.

Summer smiled gratefully. "Thanks."

Wyatt waved it off. "Don't mention it. As for those trust-fund brats... since they're here, want to take them on the track?"

Summer chuckled. "They're actually racing?"

Wyatt nodded.

Summer knew exactly what he meant. They were the untouchable elites of Empire City, so she couldn't just bash their heads in like thugs.

But the racetrack was an entirely different arena. There, she could exact her revenge in broad daylight!
