Having delivered her ultimate challenge, Summer spun on her heel and headed toward Wyatt.
Xavier's predatory gaze silently tracked her swaying silhouette.
The gentle, submissive Summer he remembered was rapidly fading, replaced by this sharp, defiant, and intoxicatingly fierce woman.
Which version of her was the truth?
Had she been putting on an act for him this entire time?
Summer approached Wyatt. "Are you scared of Xavier? If not, do me a favor. Julian's definitely going to bring his cronies to jump me on the track."
Wyatt clicked his tongue. "Julian isn't Xavier. Besides, I'm the third son of the Hudson family—don't treat me like some helpless scrub."
"Hey, why wasn't I invited to this party?"
Summer turned to see Jude stepping out of a sports car. He was actually here!
She eyed him with a knowing smirk. "Didn't you tell the group chat you were at the hospital getting an IV for a fever? Does this look like a hospital?"
Jude raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you say you were visiting Dr. Whitmore? Does this look like his estate?"
Without missing a beat, they came to an unspoken agreement: Gavin could absolutely never know they were here, or he'd instantly snitch.
Jude grinned. "I excel at causing chaos. Count me in."
"Just don't drag me down," Summer challenged.
"Who do you think you're talking to?" Jude shot back, oozing youthful arrogance.
The race began.
The deafening roar of engines tore through the sky as millions of dollars' worth of supercars launched off the starting line like shooting stars, blurring into the distance.
Summer quickly found herself boxed in—one car ahead of her, and one on either side.
She recognized all three vehicles; she had memorized who got into which car before the race started.
The guy who spilled his coffee was on the left, the socialite who dumped her water was on the right, and the scumbag who spat at her was right in front.
Wyatt's voice crackled through the radio. "Summer, need some backup?"
"No," Summer replied coldly. "I'll handle them myself."
"Then I'll go clear the road ahead," Jude announced.
Summer knew exactly what these three were planning.
Every second of the brutal takedown was broadcast live onto the massive jumbotrons back at the stands.
"Holy shit, she's insane! She took out three cars all by herself!"
"That was incredible! Best defensive driving I've ever seen outside of a pro circuit."
"She's so badass and gorgeous!"
Hearing the overwhelming praise, a suffocating wave of jealousy washed over Lily.
If she weren't pregnant, she could have done that too!
Summer, that absolute bitch!
Lily ground her teeth together until her jaw ached, unable to suppress the burning rage consuming her chest.
By now, Summer had successfully hunted down Julian.
Julian was momentarily shocked to see her trailing him so quickly. So many people in the club wanted to curry favor with Xavier, and since Xavier was untouchable, they sucked up to Julian instead.
Everyone knew Julian hated Summer, so people were guaranteed to target her even without his explicit orders.
So how the hell had she bypassed all of them so fast?
