Even if there was a full investigation, she would be completely cleared of any fault.
With that settled, she unbuckled her seatbelt, threw her door open, and ran to the edge of the cliff to look down.
Fortunately, it wasn't a bottomless abyss, just a deep embankment. The car had gotten wedged between some thick trees, preventing it from rolling all the way down.
The rescue crew arrived within minutes.
Xavier was rushed straight to the hospital, and Summer followed. After all, they weren't officially divorced yet, meaning she was still his legal wife.
If Xavier's luck had run out and he died on the operating table, she needed to be present to secure her financial interests and inheritances.
Xavier was wheeled directly into surgery.
The moment the doors closed, Lily turned around and aggressively swung her hand to slap Summer. "You absolute bitch!"
Summer effortlessly intercepted her wrist and retaliated with a vicious backhand across Lily's cheek.
Smack!
"Who the hell are you calling a bitch?" Summer snapped back flawlessly.
"You dare hit me?!" Furious, Lily swung her other hand.
"I hit you, so what? Did you want me to schedule an appointment?" Summer grabbed Lily's free hand, forcefully yanked her forward, and violently headbutted her.
Thud! Lily saw stars as pain exploded behind her eyes.
Summer immediately shoved her away in disgust.
Lily stumbled backward, right into the arms of Miles, who had just arrived.
Lily clung tightly to his shirt, sobbing pitifully like a fragile victim. "Miles! She hit me and pushed me! It hurts!"
Seeing his sister's bruised face, Miles' heart ached. He had spoiled Lily her entire life; she had never suffered a humiliation like this.
He whipped his head toward Summer, his gaze piercing and icy. "Summer, apologize to my sister right now."
Summer met his furious stare without flinching. "Your sister attacked me first. I acted in self-defense. I've never heard of the victim apologizing to the aggressor."
"I said, apologize!" Miles growled, aggressively grabbing Summer's wrist. "Are you deaf?"
He shot her a murderous glare. "Summer!"
Wyatt stepped directly in front of Summer. "Come on, Miles, don't be so dramatic. A little kick from a woman is basically just a scratch. Stop acting."
Miles definitely wasn't acting. Summer had kicked him with enough force to snap a bone, pouring all her hatred into the strike.
At that moment, the operating room doors finally swung open, drawing everyone's immediate attention.
A nurse rushed out and instinctively handed a consent form to Lily, who was standing closest. "Family member, please sign this."
Lily hesitated, refusing to take the pen. The nurse urged her, "Please hurry! Your husband's condition is critical, and we need to operate immediately."
Lily shot a hateful glare at Summer.
Summer's lips curled into a mocking smirk. "Go on, sign it. Why are you hesitating?"
"Oh, right, I forgot," Summer continued in a dangerously polite tone that cut deeper than any physical blow. She smiled brightly. "Only actual family members can sign these."
Summer stepped forward and smoothly plucked the document from the nurse's hands. "Shady mistresses aren't legally authorized to make medical decisions."
