Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 240

It was just a chair, after all.

Wesley did as he was told and sat down.

The smile on Lily's face nearly shattered. She had schemed so meticulously, yet it had all been for absolutely nothing.

And it wasn't just a waste of effort—her failure had inadvertently set Summer up, handing her the ultimate advantage.

How could she possibly accept this?!

Harrison smiled and patted Wesley's shoulder. “That's more like it.”

He then looked at everyone else still standing in the room. “Alright, alright, don't just stand there. Everyone sit down.”

“Professor Banks, your tea,” Summer said, pouring a cup and handing it to him with both hands.

“Just what I needed,” Harrison said, taking a sip. “Excellent tea. Quite good. I'll take another.”

As Summer refilled his cup, Lily gritted her teeth so hard they nearly cracked.

That was supposed to be her doing all that!

Consumed by venomous jealousy, Lily hated her to the core!

Why her!

Why did Summer get to sit right next to Harrison Banks?!

Furious, Lily lowered her eyelashes to hide the uncontrollable flames of resentment in her eyes.

Xavier placed his hand over her tightly clenched fist, patting it gently in a comforting, protective gesture.

Lily glanced over at him, finding Xavier's usually stoic expression visibly softened.

Catching the exchange out of the corner of his eye, Harrison mentally cringed.

If it weren't the first day of the project, meaning he couldn't just bail as the lead, he absolutely would not have shown up.
