Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 269

Lily's scandal didn't just ruin her; it dragged Sterling Group down with her. The most obvious impact was the plummeting stock price.

Carlson Sterling was furious. "Xavier! Selling state secrets is treason! Are you going to let one woman destroy the entire Sterling Group?"

Xavier's expression was grim. He rubbed his temples, a sharp, needle-like pain piercing his skull.

"Great-Grandfather, Lily didn't leak those secrets."

"You're still defending her? Are you trying to put me in an early grave?!" Carlson slammed his hand violently against the table.

"Whether she did it or not, Sterling Group has to take a stand! Zero tolerance for traitors! As a responsible, patriotic leader, that is the stance you must take!"

"Call a press conference immediately. Kick that jinx out of the company."

"Great-Grandfather," Xavier stood up, "if you're fine, I'm heading back to the office. I have a mess to clean up."

Xavier had been summoned home by a frantic phone call claiming the old man had passed out. Seeing him angrily pounding the table meant he was perfectly fine.

Carlson roared, "Xavier Sterling! The fortune teller warned us that Lily is a curse on this family. Since she returned, this house and the company have known no peace. If you refuse to wake up, don't blame me for taking matters into my own hands!"

Xavier left the estate without looking back.

When he drove back to headquarters, Paige rushed up to him. "Mr. Sterling, netizens are boycotting our products, and several partners have pulled out."

Xavier tugged at his tie in silence.

Unsure of his stance, Paige hesitated before asking, "Mr. Sterling, should we hold a press conference and distance ourselves from her?"

"No."

Paige breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed her boss wasn't going to abandon Lily.

In his heart, Lily always came first.

"What about Lily's situation?"

Xavier grabbed his cigarette pack, tapped one out, and lit it, smoking in brooding silence.
