The waitress grabbed Lily Sutton, her eyes filled with madness. Her mask had fallen off at some point, revealing cheeks covered in hideous, raised scars.
"You stole my daughter's name! You stole her inheritance! Die! Go to hell and keep her company!"
The waitress looked completely unhinged. Like a maniac, she raised a gleaming, polished steak knife.
At that exact moment, Lily's family arrived—her mother Lydia Sutton, her father Bennett Sutton, and Miles Sutton.
Seeing the scene unfold, Lydia turned pale with terror. "Lily!"
Miles saw the bloody scratch on Lily's neck. Without hesitation, he dashed toward Summer Vance, his face twisted in mock panic. "Lily, are you okay?"
Lydia and Bennett immediately caught on and ran toward Summer as well, shouting in frantic tones, "Lily!"
Summer instantly understood their sick intentions. Because she and Lily looked so much alike, they wanted the crazed woman to think she had grabbed the wrong person.
The whole family was rotten to the core.
They deserved to burn.
Understanding their plan was one thing, but dealing with it was another. Miles grabbed her in a tight embrace, forcefully clapping a hand over her mouth to stop her from exposing the lie.
Summer bit down hard on his hand, drawing blood until it ran down his fingers.
Miles still refused to let go. He frowned through the pain, a brief flash of apology in his eyes, but it was quickly replaced by ruthless determination. His sister had to be safe.
Even if he had to become a monster and abandon his conscience, he would ensure his sister's safety.
After all, back then, his sister had protected him without a second thought.
"Let her go," Tessa Thorne furiously yelled, but she had barely gotten the words out before Xavier Sterling grabbed her.
Xavier restrained Tessa, forcibly holding her against his chest.
Tessa cried tears of sheer desperation, muffling her screams. "Jerk! Animal! Scumbag! Let me go! You'll all rot in hell!"
Sure enough, the moment the crazed woman saw the Sutton family rushing frantically toward Summer, she paused.
Lily's heart pounded in terror. Face ashen and body trembling, she pointed a shaking finger at Summer. "Ma'am, you grabbed the wrong person. She is Lily Sutton. I'm not. We just look alike."
Hearing Lily's words, Miles feigned a reprimand. "Shut up! What nonsense are you saying? You are Lily."
The deranged woman looked back and forth between Summer and Lily, but she didn't loosen her grip.
Seeing her hesitate, Lily pushed harder, sobbing. "Ma'am, just look at the clothes and jewelry she's wearing. You can tell how spoiled she is. She's the apple of their eye."
"Apple of their eye?" the crazed woman muttered neurotically. A second later, destructive hatred exploded in her eyes, making her scarred face twist even more hideously.
She shoved Lily aside and charged at Summer with the steak knife. "All of this was supposed to belong to my daughter! My daughter is the true heiress!"
"Lydia, Bennett! You adulterous bastards! You killed my daughter, stole her name, and took her fortune! I want your daughter to pay with her life! Go to hell!"
