Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 325

The crowd erupted in an uproar once again.

The woman raised her voice. "My husband was a core member of this project! His team pulled all-nighters every single day for this. But right when the project succeeded, the company snatched it away and slapped Julian Hawthorne's name on it!"

"When my husband led his team to reason with the executives, Julian beat him so badly he ended up in the hospital. He's still in a coma to this day! Worse yet, the company fired my husband, accusing him of inciting a riot, and refused to pay a single dime in compensation!"

Julian already had a guilty conscience, and his inability to answer the technical questions only fueled his panicked rage.

Hearing the woman's accusations sent him into a total tailspin. His features twisted into a ferocious scowl as he roared into the microphone, "You're talking out of your ass! This is pure slander!"

The woman's gaze remained resolute, her voice ringing out with unwavering strength. "Whether I'm making this up or not, a police investigation will reveal the truth. I have nothing to hide, and I welcome an investigation. Do you?"

Julian certainly did not, because everything she said was the absolute truth.

The host interjected, "Ma'am, if you wish to report this, do you have any evidence? We cannot launch a formal inquiry based purely on a one-sided claim."

The woman pointed straight at Summer. "He couldn't even answer the basic questions Pax asked him! That proves he's hiding something and that this project was never his to begin with!"

Julian dramatically clutched his chest, feigning agony. "I'm just having a sudden medical emergency... The pain is too much, I can't speak... Ugh..."

The host looked conflicted. "Ma'am, a single unanswered question is hardly enough to build a case."

Tears streamed down the woman's face. She choked out a sob. "I don't have the evidence because the Hawthornes threatened us with our families' safety and forcibly took the proof! Every member of my husband's team was intimidated by the Hawthorne family. Seeing what happened to my husband, none of them dared to fight back. But I refuse to accept this! I just want justice!"

Julian sneered, "You have zero proof. Just empty words. This is defamation."

Summer spoke up, her tone effortlessly calm. "Mr. Hawthorne, you seem to have found your voice again. Then please, answer my question."

Julian froze entirely. "..."

At that exact moment, a group of police officers marched into the award ceremony hall.

The second Julian saw the uniforms, the color drained from his face. A flicker of raw panic danced in his eyes.

He whipped his head toward the woman who had publicly exposed him, gritting his teeth so hard his jaw jumped. The sheer malice in his gaze was barely contained.

He looked as if he wanted to tear her limb from limb.

The officers headed straight for the stage. Julian tried to maintain his composure, forcing a stiff, awkward smile that looked more like a grimace.

He desperately comforted himself: *It's fine. Dad is definitely watching the live broadcast. As soon as I'm brought in for questioning, Dad will pull strings to bail me out.*

As long as enough money exchanged hands, there was nothing that couldn't be fixed.
