Summer merely offered a gentle smile without saying a word. After all, she was here today to help Silas secure the project.
Still chatting, the group took their seats.
Xavier's party was also seated at the main table. The adults maintained their composure. No matter how much bad blood existed behind closed doors, they could still exchange polite pleasantries in public.
Kids, however, were entirely different. If they didn't like someone, they didn't hide it. Even when Hunter formally apologized again and offered a gift,
Archie kept his disdain written all over his face.
Hunter sat alone and isolated in his seat, eating his food in silence. Even if he didn't like the dishes, he didn't dare complain.
He was intensely jealous of Archie and Leo.
Archie didn't even have to ask for what he wanted; his dad automatically served him.
Meanwhile, Leo was a cripple, yet everyone still adored him. Archie shared the shrimp his dad had peeled for him with Leo, and Silas was busy cracking crab legs for the boy.
Silas wasn't even his biological father.
Hunter couldn't understand it. His mind was consumed with a toxic mix of envy, jealousy, and pure hatred.
He wanted shrimp and crab too, but he was too terrified to speak up.
He had failed to help Mr. Sterling. The man was probably regretting bringing him and wouldn't like him anymore.
Dejected, Hunter felt his loathing for Leo multiply exponentially.
He really, really hated Leo Vance!
If only Leo would just disappear, Hunter thought maliciously. The very next second, a gasp rang out.
"Ah! Watch out!" cried Tiffany Miller, the waitress.
Hunter looked up at the sound, instantly freezing in horror as a massive bowl of scalding soup hurdled straight toward his face.
"Ahhh!"
Hunter unleashed a bloodcurdling scream of pure terror.
Xavier immediately shielded Lilith, who was sitting next to Hunter. The boiling liquid hit Hunter square in the face.
The waitress, Tiffany, collapsed heavily onto the floor.
Hunter's face swelled rapidly, turning a violent shade of red as agonizing blisters bubbled up. The fiery pain sent him writhing and screaming on the ground.
