Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 383

After enduring the brutal beating from the peach-wood sword, Father Elias brought over a ceramic bowl brimming with rooster blood. Dipping his fingers into the crimson liquid, he chanted fiercely, flicking thick droplets of blood all over Lilith.

Disgusted by the sticky, foul-smelling gore covering her expensive clothes, Lilith turned deathly pale. Inside her mind, she viciously cursed Carlson, Zelda, and every other Sterling elder to a slow, agonizing death.

Suddenly, the low rumble of an engine echoed from the driveway. A spark of hope flashed in Lilith's eyes.

Moments later, a servant rushed in. "Mr. Sterling has returned."

Lilith's eyes lit up in triumph. Before she could even scream his name, a bodyguard shoved a gag into her mouth. Muffled whimpers escaped her lips.

"Bar the doors," Carlson barked. "Keep him out until the exorcism is complete. Do not let him be tainted by the evil radiating off this woman!"

Sounds of a violent scuffle erupted in the hallway. A few minutes later, Xavier kicked the grand doors open, his face an absolute thundercloud of fury as he stormed into the room.

Master Lucius wrapped up his final chant just as Xavier marched toward him. Staring at Xavier's face, the mystic blurted out, "Mr. Sterling, a deadly shadow looms over your brow! You are currently consumed by disastrous misfortune. You will be plagued by catastrophic tragedies. At best, you will suffer catastrophic financial ruin. At worst, blood will be spilled!"

Hearing this, Zelda shot Lilith a murderous glare. "It's undeniably because of this walking curse! Xavier sleeps next to her every night. The vile miasma infecting her soul has transferred onto him! How could he not be cursed?"

Carlson's expression grew deeply severe. "Master Lucius, is there a way to break this hex?"

"It is simple," the mystic replied smoothly. "Sever all ties with the source of the rot, and the rot will cease to spread. One must surround oneself with those who manifest fortune, and prosperity will naturally return."

Everyone in the room knew exactly who the 'source of the rot' was.

Lilith shot the old mystic a venomous glare, mentally carving his name at the very top of her hit list.

Xavier let out a harsh, derisive scoff. "Save your parlor tricks for the gullible fools. Anyone who glances at the news or the stock market can tell you we're bleeding money right now. I hardly need a charlatan to predict that."

"How about I predict your future instead?" Xavier's eyes were utterly predatory. "I foresee a massive spike in trauma due to your inability to keep your mouth shut!"

"Insolent brat!" Carlson roared. "Is that any way to speak to the Master? Apologize immediately!"

Ignoring the patriarch entirely, Xavier gently pulled the gag from Lilith's mouth and lifted her into his arms. "I'm sorry. I got here too late."

Lilith's face was completely drained of color. Trembling like a leaf, she collapsed against his chest. "Xavier, my stomach is burning."

Panic seizing him, Xavier hoisted Lilith into his arms. As he turned to leave, he shot a lethal glare at the old mystic. "You better pray to whatever god you worship that nothing happens to her. Because if she loses these babies, I will bury you alive in this city."

Holding Lilith tight, Xavier stormed out and rushed her straight to the emergency room.

Knowing full well she had unleashed an unmitigated disaster upon the family, Lilith's only move was to fake excruciating phantom pains and severe depressive episodes. She barricaded herself inside a VIP hospital suite, claiming psychological instability.

After all, she was carrying two golden Sterling heirs in her womb. The family wouldn't dare touch her right now, and they would be forced to deploy endless resources to ensure she delivered safely.

However, this scandal was entirely different from the ones before. The entire nation was consumed by the drama. A full week had passed, yet the digital inferno showed no signs of dying down.

Between the brutal public backlash and Silas's calculated market sabotage, the Sterling Group sustained catastrophic losses. Xavier's ranking on the national wealth list plummeted to a dismal tenth place.

Conversely, Silas surged upwards, seizing the number two spot.
