Substitute Wife, Genius CEO novel Chapter 440

Lydia's fury burned hotter.

She clenched her hands so tightly that the sharp edges of the mask pierced her skin, staining it with fresh blood.

Summer watched the display, laughing internally.

Before coming here today, she had specifically gone to a high-end salon to get her hair and makeup done, ensuring she looked more stunning than a celebrity.

It was all purely to trigger Lydia.

Was Lydia already at her breaking point?

This was nothing.

Lydia had tortured and humiliated Leila for over a decade!

Compared to what she had done, this was merely a drop in the ocean. It wasn't even worth mentioning.

Seeing Lydia on the verge of an explosion, Summer said playfully, "Lydia, calm down. Don't throw a tantrum. Otherwise, the doctors will start advising the family to take you for a psychiatric evaluation again."

Ever since Lydia was disfigured, her emotions had been wildly unstable. She threw fits and trashed her hospital room daily. The doctors had already suggested a psychiatric consult.

They claimed the trauma was too severe and could easily trigger a total mental breakdown.

Lydia took several deep breaths, barely suppressing her rage. "Summer, get the hell out!"

"Alright, alright," Summer smiled helplessly. "Calm down. Just make sure you don't lose your temper. Otherwise, they'll pump you full of sedatives again, and too much of that stuff rots the brain. I'm going to go check on Dad."

"Get out!"

Lydia hurled the custom mask straight at Summer's head.

Luckily, Summer was quick. She dodged smoothly and stepped out of the room.

The mask ended up hitting Xavier squarely in the chest.

Lydia froze when she saw him. Summer stood out in the hallway, smiling. "Xavier, please be understanding. Lydia isn't losing her mind on purpose."

Xavier frowned, his eyes locked on Summer.

She looked incredibly beautiful today, practically glowing. When she smiled, her eyes curved beautifully, filled with an undeniable, radiant cunning.

Xavier found himself completely captivated by those eyes.

They looked exactly like Lilith's eyes back at the orphanage, whenever she used her innocent persona to get away with causing trouble.

That perfect blend of innocence and mischief in those bright, dark eyes—it was identical to this very moment.
