Standing on the stage, Lilith Sutton wore a flawless, elegant smile, but internally, she was seething with pure hatred.
Today was supposed to be about her sons. It was supposed to be a celebration of their perfect family of four!
Instead, Xander Sterling and Leo Vance had completely stolen the spotlight.
How could she not be furious?
To make matters worse, little Leo’s face was practically a carbon copy of Xavier’s, just scaled down to size.
Anyone with half a brain could see the uncanny resemblance.
Whispers were already rippling through the crowd, fueling the rage in Lilith’s chest. She wanted to rip their mouths open. Let them gossip. She hoped they’d choke on their vicious words.
The Sterlings clearly heard the murmurs too. Xavier shot a pointed look at the MC.
The host immediately took the hint. Expertly shifting the room's focus, he announced the next segment, finally bringing Lilith’s twin boys to the center of attention.
Lilith and Xavier each held a baby in their arms.
The twins were well-fed and chubby, with big, dark eyes that darted around intelligently, taking in the room.
They reached out their little arms toward anyone who approached, completely fearless and undeniably adorable.
Guests eagerly stepped up to coo over them. Within minutes, the babies were weighed down with gold pendants, lucky charms, engraved necklaces, and tiny baby bracelets.
Summer Vance was mingling among the guests when the baby in Xavier's arms grinned at her. The infant reached out with a chubby hand, but Summer didn't reciprocate.
She simply offered a playful wave from a distance. "Your son is quite cute."
Xavier’s expression softened, a deep, overwhelming paternal love practically radiating from his features.
Summer’s smile deepened as she studied the child intently. "It’s just a shame he doesn't look much like you."
Xavier’s smile instantly froze. Mindful of the guests surrounding them, he swallowed his temper. "Summer, if you don’t have anything nice to say, keep your mouth shut."
Summer met his gaze, her smile remaining perfectly pleasant. "Don't be so sensitive. It was just a passing remark. But seriously, this child really doesn’t resemble you at all. If you don't believe me, ask anyone else."
