Hearing Summer explicitly say she wanted to see the Sterling bloodline end, Zelda's suppressed fury finally exploded.
She had despised Summer ever since the humiliation at the banquet earlier that day.
Now, Summer had caused her son to be beaten to a pulp, yet when Zelda generously offered her a way out, this vicious woman spat in her face!
Furious, Zelda raised her hand to slap her. "You bitch!"
Summer effortlessly caught Zelda's wrist and shoved her backward with force.
Wearing high heels, Zelda stumbled back clumsily and collapsed onto the pavement, scraping her hands raw on the loose gravel.
"You bitch, you dare push me!"
Summer glared at her coldly. "Idiot! You tried to hit me. Have you never heard of self-defense?"
Zelda had spent her entire life surrounded by yes-men and flatterers. No one had ever called her an idiot to her face.
Zelda threatened her viciously, "You little tramp! I was looking out for you out of the goodness of my heart. Don't push your luck!"
Summer let out a sharp, mocking laugh. "And what if I do?"
Zelda shrieked, "Then you can forget about ever marrying into the Sinclair family! Forget about climbing the social ladder!"
In Zelda's eyes, Summer was no different from any other gold digger desperate to cross class lines and marry into wealth.
While in the Sterling household, Summer had played the gentle, obedient wife. The second she was kicked out, she showed her true colors and immediately started seducing Silas Sinclair.
Silas was no saint either. He was obviously just using Summer to attack the Sterling Group.
Did Summer genuinely believe a divorced woman dragging a kid around could marry into the Sinclair family?
She was completely delusional!
Not to mention, she was the Sterling family's discarded baggage!
The Sinclairs would never accept that kind of public humiliation!
Convinced she had Summer cornered, Zelda looked down at her with haughty disdain. "Think carefully, Summer. Do you want a future or not?"
Summer smiled scornfully. "A woman's future isn't secured simply by marrying a man, Zelda. Whatever future I want, I can build myself. If you think you're so powerful, go knock on the Sinclairs' door and see if they even give you the time of day."
With that, she lifted her wrist to check her watch. "Don't forget to settle the bill. Ten minutes. Ten million dollars!"
As Summer turned to walk away, Zelda reached out and grabbed her arm. "Do you have no manners? Who said you could leave? You're not going anywhere until I'm finished."
Smack! Summer spun around and delivered a brutal backhand straight across Zelda's face.
"Ah!" Zelda screamed, clutching her cheek. She stood there, completely stunned by the impact.
It took her a few seconds to process what had just happened. Her eyebrows shot up, her eyes went wide, and she shrieked, "You violent little slut! You hit me!"
"You shouldn't have grabbed me from behind. I thought you were trying to attack me again."
"Summer!" Xavier, hearing the commotion, came storming over. Seeing the bright red handprint on his mother's face, Xavier was so enraged he instantly raised his hand to strike Summer.
Silas arrived right on time, pulling Summer into his embrace. Xavier's palm ended up connecting hard with Silas's ear.
"Silas!" Summer looked at him in a panic. "Let me see."
Silas's ear was bright red and throbbing from the blow.
In reality, given Silas's combat skills, he could have easily dodged the hit.
