At the Sutton residence.
Bennett looked at Lilith. "Lilith, I mentioned before that I plan to send your mother to a sanitarium for a while. You said you would take charge of it. Have you found a hospital and a doctor yet?"
Recently, it had been one awful thing after another. Lilith simply didn't have the time or the mood to think about Lydia's affairs.
She hadn't even sorted out her own mess yet.
Going to the beauty salon today for treatments was just an attempt to make herself look a bit better so she could win back Xavier's heart.
As for everything else, she naturally didn't have the mental energy for it. Even her two sons were being looked after by the nanny.
But Lydia going crazy was also because of Bennett.
Ever since Lydia was disfigured, Bennett had barely shown her any care, and instead had grown incredibly close with Scarlett.
This was undoubtedly adding fuel to the fire, accelerating the breakdown of their relationship.
Lilith couldn't help but feel resentful. "Dad, do you absolutely have to have Scarlett be your private nurse? Summer was the one who found her. You must know she doesn't have good intentions, right?"
While Lilith resented Bennett, Bennett also resented Lilith.
They were both daughters, but he doted on Lilith so much more. He had catered to her every whim and spoiled her rotten since she was a child.
And the result? When he got sick, the one who found him a private nurse was actually Summer.
Did Lilith ever show a single ounce of concern for him as her father?
"Why didn't you find a private nurse for me? You don't care about me, and you won't allow Summer to care about me either? Do you know how inconvenient my life is sitting in a wheelchair?"
Lilith retorted angrily, "If your life is inconvenient, we can hire a different private nurse. It doesn't have to be Scarlett! No wonder Mom suspects you. Even I'm starting to suspect you."
Furious, Bennett smashed the teacup in his hand and scolded sharply, "Lilith, what kind of nonsense are you sprouting?"
"Crash—"
The teacup shattered into pieces on the floor.
For a moment, the living room fell into dead silence, the atmosphere oppressive and heavy.
After a long pause, Lilith finally apologized. "I'm sorry, Dad, I didn't mean it. I'm just anxious for you and Mom. You two used to be so in love."
Bennett's tone also softened. "When Scarlett quit, I did look for other private nurses, but none of them were as meticulous and thoughtful as her. Sometimes, Scarlett knows exactly what I need without me even having to speak."
"And my headaches—only her daily massages provide a little relief. Ever since she left, my headaches have been getting worse by the day."
"I want to invite Scarlett back, and she won't even agree to it. And you guys? All you care about is being jealous. Look at the state I'm in, do you really think I have the energy for any romantic affairs?"
Hearing Bennett say this, Lilith felt it made sense.
Coupled with the thought of her current predicament, Bennett and the Sutton family were her only reliance.
