Chapter 193 Ambushed
The hovercar was now less than 2 miles from the Dragon Abyss Clan mansion.
The fog grew thicker, reducing visibility to less than 164 feet.
Clive slowed the vehicle, his eyes scanning the surroundings with caution.
Rafe sat up straight, the laziness in his blue eyes vanishing, replaced by keen vigilance.

“Something’s off,” Lioren said, his cat ears standing straight, his amber eyes locked onto the fog ahead. “There’s murderous intent in the air.”
No sooner had he spoken than three black hovercars roared out of the mist.
They formed a triangle, instantly boxing in Dora’s hovercar.
As the doors slid open, over thirty black–clad attackers poured out like a tidal wave, each brandishing energy weapons and radiating intense power.
They were Level 5, Level 6, and even Level 7.
These guys moved like pros, their formation spread out, covering each other’s blind spots. No doubt about it, they were battle–hardened mercenaries.
“They mean trouble,” Rafe said, pushing up his gold–rimmed glasses, a cold glint flashing in his blue eyes.
Lioren’s cat ears flattened, his amber eyes fixated on the attackers. “They’re coming straight for us.”
Elmer had already thrown up a shield, covering the entire hovercar. “Dora, don’t be scared. I’ve got you!”
Clive reacted even faster.
With one hand on the steering wheel, he pressed a red button on the console with the other.
Rafe had custom–installed that combat system himself.
Vehicle–mounted weapons powered by crystal ore.
They were originally designed for fighting off mutated alien beast swarms.
The armor panels on both sides of the hovercar slid open, revealing four small energy cannons.
A rotating turret rose from the roof, its dark muzzle aimed straight at the black–clad attackers.
“Dora, stay inside the hovercar. Once we’re out, make sure to lock the doors behind us,” Clive said.
“The car’s been upgraded. As long as you stay put, they won’t be able to touch you.”
Dora nodded. “Don’t worry about me. If things get dicey, I can slip into the special space.

Rafe’s blue eyes flashed coldly, he was unfazed. “Don’t worry. Those weapons can’t touch us,” he said.
Clive nodded, his voice deep and calm. “Rafe, left flank.
“Lioren, right flank.
“Elmer, cover the perimeter.”
“Understood!” they all responded together.
As a final gesture before heading out, Clive pressed a soft kiss to Dora’s forehead.
“Just trust us,” Clive said.
The moment the door slid open, the four of them burst out together.
Dora sat in the hovercar, her fists clenched tight, watching every move outside with unwavering focus.
Rafe was the first to unleash his ice–type supernatural ability.
With a swift motion, he brought his hands together, sending dozens of ice blades whistling through the air straight at the left flank of black–clad attackers.
The blades were nearly invisible in the thick fog, and before the attackers even realized what was happening, a few had already hit the ground, taken out before they knew what hit them.
“Pinnacle Level 7!” someone yelled in disbelief.
Rafe snickered coldly.
He’d been faking Level 4 for way too long.
No more need for pretense now.
The left flank was thrown into chaos.
On the right flank, Lioren unleashed his full speed.
He moved through the fog like a ghost, every flicker of his figure stirring up a mist of blood.

He brought his hands together, and a wall of earth erupted, blocking Lioren’s wind blades.

“Kitty–cat,” the guy grinned with a mouthful of yellow teeth. “You’ve got speed, but not enough power.”
Lioren’s cat ears shot up, a cold glint flashing in his amber eyes.
“Is that so?” he sneered.
In a blur, he vanished from where he stood.
The very next second, he was behind the guy, his wind blade driving straight for the man’s back before he could even react.
The guy reacted in a split second, earth armor snapped over his body, covering him from head to toe.
Lioren’s wind blade slammed into the armor, but it barely left a mark.
“Told you, not enough power,” the guy sneered, spinning around and throwing a heavy punch.
Lioren dodged, but the punch just grazed his shoulder, sending a spray of blood into the fog.
“Lioren!” Elmer cried out in alarm.
Lioren wiped the blood from his shoulder, a cold, sharp smile tugging at his lips.
“Interesting,” he said.
He vanished again.
This time, he moved even faster.
On the main battlefield, Clive was up against two Primary Level 7 mercenaries.
Clive’s lightning and shadow supernatural ability went head–to–head with their fire and wind supernatural abilities.
The four streams of energy crashed together in the thick fog, setting off blinding flashes and ear–splitting booms.
Trees were split clean in two, and the ground was blasted into huge craters.
Clive was soaked in blood, but his eyes remained icy calm.
Even though he’d just broken through to Level 7, with his the dual–type supernatural ability, he wasn’t at a disadvantage against two Primary Level 7 opponents.
His lightning restrained their wind, and his shadow supernatural ability suppressed their fire.
The elemental advantage, combined with his rich combat experience, was enough to bridge the gap in levels. The Level 5 and 6 mercenaries didn’t dare get close to the main battlefield, but they kept up a barrage of

energy fire from a distance, harassing the group without ever closing in.
Elmer’s shield was taking hit after hit, and cracks were starting to spiderweb across its surface.
“Dora,” Elmer said through clenched teeth, “the shield’s not going to hold much longer!”
Dora didn’t panic. She waved Elmer over to the window.
She rolled it down and grabbed a handful of milk chocolate from her Spatial Realm.
She stuffed a piece into Elmer’s mouth.
“Clive! Catch!” she said.
She threw it hard.
Clive didn’t even glance back, he snatched it with a quick backhand and shoved it into his mouth.
Crystal energy erupted inside him, flooding his body.
His lightning blazed brighter, shadows thickened around him, and his power spiked once more.
“Thanks,” he muttered, then lunged straight for the two Level 7 mercenaries.
On Rafe’s side, he’d already taken down most of the enemies on the left flank.
His dual ice–type and water–type abilities made him an absolute force in the chaos of battle.
Water dragon swept across the field, locking down the enemy, while ice blades struck out of nowhere, the synergy was perfect.
The black–clad attackers hit the ground before they even got close, blood pooling beneath them.
But that Level 7 opponent kept dogging him, never letting up for a second.
He was a metal–type, and his defense was absolutely impenetrable.
Rafe’s ice blades couldn’t pierce his golden armor, and even his water dragon crashed uselessly against that metal shield.
