Chapter 194 Dragon Lord’s Return
On Clive’s side, he had already finished off a Level 7.
The other one was locked in combat with Rafe.
Lioren wiped the blood off his face and rushed in.

Inside the hovercar, Dora kept taking crystal energy food out of her Spatial Realm and tossing it to the four fighting outside.
Elmer, still holding up his shield, took the chocolate she handed him and popped it into his mouth.
His face was pale, but his shield held strong.
“Elmer,” Dora said, “you’re doing really well.”
Elmer’s eyes lit up, and his shield grew even steadier.
The last black–clad figure went down.
Clive stood in a sea of bodies and blood, soaked head to toe in crimson, his eyes as deep as a bottomless
abyss.
Rafe leaned against the hovercar, panting, a grin flickering in his blue eyes.
“Man, it’s been ages since I felt this alive,” he said.
Lioren flicked blood off his tail, his amber eyes brimming with disdain.
“Ugh, this is disgusting,” Lioren muttered.
Elmer plopped down on the ground, unable to keep his shield up any longer.
“I… I’m so exhausted I could die…” he gasped.
Dora rushed out of the hovercar and grabbed Clive in a tight hug. “Are you okay?!”
Clive looked down at her, the murderous gleam in his eyes fading, replaced by a tender softness.
“I’m fine,” he said, gently holding her. “It’s all someone else’s blood.”
Dora finally let out a sigh of relief, then went to check on the other three.
Rafe waved a hand dismissively. “I’m fine, just a bit wiped out.”
Lioren was already using his wind–type supernatural ability to clean the blood off himself, moving with the grace of a cat.
Elmer collapsed on the ground, completely spent.

“Dora… got anything tasty left?” he asked weakly.
Dora laughed, squatting down to ruffle Elmer’s hair.
“I’ll give you a treat later,” she teased.
Dora turned to look at the three black hovercars.
“Who sent these people?” she asked.
Clive fell silent for a moment, then said slowly, “I don’t know.
“But to mobilize four Level 7s and more than thirty Level 6 and 5 mercenaries? That’s a serious operation.”
Rafe walked over and pulled an energy gun from the body of the lead Level 7 supernatural ability user.
“This looks like military issue,” he said.
Lioren glanced at the bodies and snorted.
“Over thirty Level 5s and up, plus three Level 7s? Whoever hired them must’ve shelled out big bucks.”
Dora frowned, lost in thought.
“Looks like someone’s trying to keep Clive from meeting Shine,” she said.
Clive’s eyes darkened.
“Could it be the Shawn family?” he asked.
“No, I don’t think so,” Rafe replied, shaking his head.
“The Shawn family’s got their own problems right now. They couldn’t possibly bankroll this many assassins.”
“So who else could pull this off? Someone backed by the military?” Clive asked.
Everyone fell silent.
Up ahead, through the mist, the Dragon Abyss Clan mansion was just barely visible.
Dora shifted her gaze away.
“Let’s not worry about who it is for now,” she said.
“Since we’ve arrived, let’s go meet the head of the Dragon Abyss Clan.”
She turned to her four beast mates.
“Let’s go,” she said.
The hovercar restarted, making its way toward the ancient estate shrouded in mist.

Behind them were over thirty bodies and the wreckage of a brutal battle.

After weaving through the bloodstained forest where they’d been ambushed, the hovercar finally rolled into the Dragon Abyss Clan mansion, shrouded in mist.
The scene ahead made everyone hold their breath.
It was an ancient mansion built right into the mountainside. Tiered courtyards sprawled from the mountain base all the way up its slope.
The whole estate was wrapped in a faint golden shield, keeping out all the wet season’s pollution.
The mist churned outside the shield, but not even a hint of it could seep inside.
But what really grabbed everyone’s attention were the spectral dragon shapes spiraling above the estate.
Gold, blue, and red, they flickered in and out of the clouds, sometimes letting out a long, haunting cry that sent a thrill through everyone.
“Is that…” Elmer’s eyes widened, his white beast ears perking up.
“Those are the dragon souls guarding the mansion,” Rafe said, pushing up his gold–rimmed glasses, a thoughtful glint in his blue eyes.
“Ancient texts say that real dragons could use their own souls to shield their lands.
“After the Dragon Clan was wiped out, these dragon souls still managed to endure all the way to today…
“The Dragon Abyss Clan’s legacy is even more profound than I ever imagined.”
The hovercar slowly touched down on the plaza in front of the estate.
The plaza was paved with huge stone slabs, each carved with intricate markings that hinted at a massive formation beneath their feet.
Right in front stood a towering vermilion gate, at least 30 feet tall.
The gate was sealed shut.
Not a single guard was around.
There was no response at all.
The five of them got out of the hovercar and stood before the massive gate, looking at each other, not sure what to do next.
“Uh…” Elmer scratched his head. “So… how do we get in? Should we just call out?”
He stepped forward, cleared his throat, and shouted at the huge doors.
“Is anyone there? We’re here to visit the head of the Dragon Abyss Clan!”

His voice echoed again and again across the empty plaza, finally fading away into the mist.
The gate didn’t move an inch.
Elmer shouted a few more times, but not even a hint of a reply came back.

ve stepped up, pressing both hands against the gate. Lightning energy streamed continuously from his hands as he tried to push it open.
But the gate didn’t budge.
Rafe joined him, channeling both ice–type and water–type supernatural ability energy into the gate.
Still, the gate didn’t move an inch.
“This gate…” Rafe frowned. “It’s protected by a formation.
“Just the two of us? No way we’re getting this open.”
Lioren circled the gate, his cat ears twitching and his tail swaying gently.
He studied every inch of the carvings on the gate, then shook his head.
“No knocker, no cracks, nowhere to put the pendant,” he said.
Dora stood in front of the massive gate, her gaze fixed on it, then suddenly spoke up.
“Clive, take out that dragon pendant and give it a try,” she said.
