Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 1264

“Okay!”

Not long after Aaron left, Dennis was on his way back to the treatment room when his phone buzzed with a new message.

Let’s meet this afternoon.

He glanced at the sender, his eyes going cold. He didn’t bother replying and just slipped his phone back into his pocket.

Camila had already finished her check-up. The doctor said she was fine for now. Dennis picked her up and drove her home.

When they got inside, he was ready to head out again. Before leaving, he turned to Camila. “Just relax at home today, alright? I have a few things to handle, but I’ll be back tonight to spend time with you and our girl.”

“Okay.” Camila smiled, understanding how busy he always was. “Go. I’ll be fine, don’t worry about me.”

“I know.”

He kissed her on the forehead, said goodbye to Melissa and her husband, and then left the house.

Instead of driving to the Smith Group, Dennis headed straight for his family’s home.

He walked in to find Ablett, Douglas, and Charlotte all waiting for him in the living room.

“Dennis is here.”

“Grandpa. Uncle Douglas. Aunt Charlotte.” Dennis greeted them and sat down.

Ablett looked at him, puzzled. “What’s going on? Why did you call us all together in such a rush?”

“Yeah, is something wrong?” Douglas asked, eyes full of concern.

Douglas had thought it was something urgent when he got the message. But when he got home and saw his father was there too, he realized no one knew what was happening.

Dennis got straight to the point. “I want you three to go to the Davis family and propose on my behalf. I want to get a marriage license with Camila as soon as possible.”

But Ablett shook his head right away. “How can we let you do all of that by yourself? We’re your elders. It’s our job to help and make sure things go smoothly. You shouldn’t have to take care of it alone.”

Charlotte smiled at Dennis. “If we don’t help, it’ll look like we don’t care about Camila. Leave it to me, okay? I watched you grow up. Now that you’re getting married, let me be a part of it. Think of me as your second mom.”

Douglas chimed in, “She’s right. No one gets married without their family helping out. We’ll make sure Camila feels completely loved and welcomed.”

With all of them insisting, Dennis finally agreed. “Alright, Aunt Charlotte, I’ll leave it to you.”

“That’s how it should be,” Charlotte said, already thinking about which date would be best.

Once everything was settled, Dennis didn’t linger at the house. He had someone else to talk to.

He needed to find Eric Morris and talk things over. Moving up the wedding like this was sudden. The Williams family was on board, but he worried Camila’s parents might worry or get suspicious. He knew how much they fretted about Camila’s health. Even the smallest change would make them anxious.

Dennis wanted Mr. Morris’s help to bring up the idea with the Davis family. If they presented the wedding as something that would lift Camila’s mood and help her recover, maybe her parents would be more willing to accept it.
