Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 921

Camila looked genuinely confused. "He's just taking care of a sick person. What's so lovey-dovey about that?"

Jarvis just shook his head, thinking to himself, It's the subtle stuff that's the most sickeningly sweet! The man was this worried over a common cold. If something serious ever happened to her, he'd probably have a heart attack.

Benjamin Torres watched it all, a shadow crossing his hazel eyes. He already knew from the incident with Lavinia Roberts that Camila's boyfriend was no ordinary man. But now, seeing them together, he realized just how deep their connection was. It was a bond so strong that there was no room for anyone else to get in.

A sense of helpless bitterness washed over him. Since the Roberts family's downfall, the Torres family's standing had plummeted. The men in Camila's life were all exceptional, far beyond his reach. With so many people vying for her affection, what chance did he ever have? Accepting this reality, Benjamin pushed his own hopeless desires deep down, burying them where they couldn't surface again.

Perhaps it was Dennis's attentive care, but after two days, Camila's cold was gone. Her energy returned, and the healthy color was back in her cheeks.

Her parents, Melissa and Jerry, had noticed everything. When the couple walked in, Melissa couldn't help but say to Dennis, "You've been taking such wonderful care of her."

Once Camila had fully recovered, Dennis had to leave for a few days on an urgent business trip. That evening, she went with him back to his home at Eagle's Peak Estate to help him pack. Feeling like she hadn't done much to help him lately, she saw him get out a suitcase and went over to help. "Let me," she said. "That way, I'll know how to pack for you on your future trips."

But she had barely started when Dennis gently pulled her hand away. "Camila, you don't have to do that." He looked at her tenderly, kissing her fingers. "I'm with you because I love you, not to have you wait on me. The staff can pack my things, or I'll handle the essentials myself. You just sit here and keep me company."

Camila froze for a moment, her thoughts drifting. In her previous marriage, she had done chores like this all the time. It had been so frequent that it became an expectation, something she was just supposed to do. But with Dennis, it was different. He saw it as a choice, not an obligation. Dennis then lifted her up and sat her on a nearby dresser, preferring she watch him pack rather than lift a single finger to help. As Camila watched his tall, handsome form moving around the room, her heart fluttered, and a pang of reluctance hit her. She didn't want him to leave.
