Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 922

They hadn't been separated once since they'd gotten together. With no urgent military assignments, Dennis had barely left Cabinda. He usually delegated any pressing business at The Smith Group to his subordinates, all of whom were highly capable and could manage on their own.

Realizing this, Camila asked, "Is there a problem at The Smith Group? Why do you have to go yourself this time?"

Dennis paused his packing to turn and look at her. "It's the partnership between NextGen Technologies and the Solenian government. It's a major project, so I need to be there in person."

He nuzzled her cheek, his voice soft and reassuring. "Don't worry, it's nothing serious. I'll only be gone a few days. I'll be back before the anniversary of Larry's mother's death at the latest. Things with the Adams family are about to get chaotic, and I need to be here to keep an eye on things."

Camila was relieved to hear it wasn't a problem with his company, and her concern shifted to Larry Adams. Dennis usually kept her in the loop, so she knew the Adams family had fallen for some rumors and were planning to move the grave. "What's Larry planning to do?" she asked.

A chilling glint appeared in Dennis's eyes. "He's going to take back everything that rightfully belongs to him. And it's time to settle some old scores. Certain people have gotten away with things for far too long, thinking they were untouchable. It's time they learned that there are consequences for their actions. They must face the punishment they deserve, for the sake of the departed."

Then he added another warning. "And if you go to visit Lillian, make sure you take a bodyguard with you. Or your best friend, your parents, even Audrey. Just don't go alone."

Camila detected a hint of jealousy in his tone. She raised an eyebrow playfully, hooking a finger around his tie and pulling him closer. "What's this? Don't you trust me?"

Dennis leaned in, bracing his hands on either side of her. His eyes were dark and intense. "Of course I trust you. I just don't want to give him any opportunity to win you back. You're my delicate flower, and I'm not about to let anyone else even think about picking you. He was bold enough to grab you right in front of me. Who knows what he might try when I'm not around? I have to be careful."
